Exciting propaganda session
Starting the propaganda session at Ngo Gia Tu High School, Tuy Hoa City, Lieutenant Nguyen Van Huu, an officer of the Propaganda Team, Traffic Accident Investigation and Violation Handling (Propaganda Team) imparted knowledge about traffic safety and order to students. The propaganda content focused on road and railway traffic rules; regulations on wearing helmets when participating in traffic by motorbike, scooter, electric bicycle; regulations on alcohol concentration and the harmful effects of driving after drinking alcohol; causes and consequences of damage caused by traffic accidents... By applying practical experience in the process of checking and handling violations, Lieutenant Nguyen Van Huu not only helped the propaganda session to be less dry, but also helped students understand and grasp information in the most memorable and understandable way.
Nguyen Bao Hoang, class 12A9, Ngo Gia Tu High School, said: Participating in today's propaganda session, I learned a lot of useful information. I was especially impressed with the real stories shared by the traffic police during their work and handling of violators. These are not only knowledge, but also valuable lessons that I can apply when participating in traffic.
Mr. Mai Tan Dien, Vice Principal of Ngo Gia Tu High School, said: Right from the beginning of the school year, the school leaders have promoted traffic safety and order for all teachers and students through weekly meetings, homeroom teachers' groups, parents' Zalo groups, and the school's Facebook page. Every week, the youth volunteer team also organizes inspections and reminds students to wear helmets and not ride motorbikes when they are underage... Thanks to that, the students' traffic awareness has improved significantly; traffic safety and order in front of the school is also ensured.
According to regulations, students aged 16 and over are allowed to drive motorbikes. However, in reality, they have not been equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to drive safely, which has led to many unfortunate traffic accidents. Instruction on safe driving skills is one of the new contents added to the Law on Road Traffic Safety, aiming to help high school students be trained in the necessary knowledge and skills to drive safely.
Major Dao Thi Ngoc May, Deputy Head of Propaganda Team
According to the Traffic Police Department, since the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year, the unit has organized 38 sessions to disseminate and educate about traffic safety laws at schools. Along with the dissemination work, the inspection and handling of students who violate traffic safety laws have also been strengthened. Since the beginning of 2025, the Traffic Police Department has recorded 117 cases of students violating traffic safety laws; fined over 108 million VND, and temporarily detained 51 motorbikes. The main violations are underage driving, not wearing helmets, and speeding. There were 2 cases of students violating alcohol concentration.
Practice safe driving skills
From March 2025, the Traffic Police Department has integrated the content of practicing safe motorbike driving skills for students into propaganda, dissemination and education activities on traffic safety law at 7 high schools and continuing education centers according to Decree 151. Specifically, the Propaganda Team focuses on helping students recognize and handle dangerous situations when driving; structure and function of motorbike parts, methods of maintenance and safe vehicle inspection; how to start and stop the engine, how to use the accelerator, brake, change gears; safe driving posture, getting on and off the vehicle; starting, adjusting appropriate speed, stopping the vehicle safely. In addition, students are also instructed to drive according to 4 models, including: going through a figure 8, going through a straight line, going through a road with a barrier, going through a rough road...
Vo Ngoc Sang, a student of class 12A4, said: I was very impressed with the safe driving skills practice section. I have applied for a driver's license and am waiting for the exam date. Today, I was able to test drive on the figure 8 track and was directly guided by the police officers, so I have accumulated some experience and am more confident in the upcoming exam. I find the safe driving skills practice section very practical and necessary for high school students.
According to Major Dao Thi Ngoc May, Deputy Head of the Propaganda Team (Traffic Police Department of the Provincial Police), in the coming time, the unit will continue to strengthen propaganda, dissemination and education of laws on traffic safety and order to all schools; at the same time, step up patrolling, control and handling of student violations. The unit strives to organize instruction on safe motorbike driving skills for 100% of high school students, vocational education and continuing education centers in the province.
