Promote the development of technology products to enhance the experience for tourists coming to Vietnam

On the afternoon of April 23, in Ho Chi Minh City, Director of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration Nguyen Trung Khanh attended the seminar "Accompanying partners and businesses to develop the tourist market to Vietnam" organized by the Vietnam National Tourism Administration in coordination with Mobifone Telecommunications Corporation (Ministry of Public Security).

Attending the event were representatives from the Immigration Department ( Ministry of Public Security ), Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, Vietnam Airlines Corporation (ACV), airlines, travel agencies, accommodation establishments, technology units, press agencies, etc.

In his opening speech, Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Nguyen Trung Khanh said that implementing the cooperation agreement between the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism and Mobifone Telecommunications Corporation, the seminar focused on discussing opportunities and challenges for the Vietnam tourism industry, especially in developing new tourism products, to better serve international tourists coming to Vietnam. This is also an opportunity to share information, experience, and seek effective solutions, especially in the context of digital transformation becoming increasingly important to the tourism industry.

The Director emphasized that 2025 is an important year for Vietnam's tourism industry in the context of recovery and growth after the pandemic, aiming to welcome 22-23 million international visitors, 120-130 million domestic visitors, total tourism revenue of about 1 million billion VND, contributing to realizing the country's GDP growth target of 8% and double-digit growth in the following years.

To achieve these goals, the Director affirmed that the tourism industry needs to strongly innovate from market approach, promotion methods, to technology application and digital transformation to improve the experience for tourists.

Director Nguyen Trung Khanh also said that although the international economic context still has many potential challenges, in the first quarter of 2025, the Vietnamese tourism industry recorded very positive results, with international visitors reaching more than 6 million, an increase of 29.6% over the same period in 2024 and an increase of 134% over the same period in 2019 - the time before the Covid-19 pandemic broke out. Domestic visitors reached about 35.5 million, with total tourism revenue estimated at VND 242 trillion.

This is a testament to the strong leadership of the Government, the support of localities, and above all, the continuous efforts of the Vietnamese tourism business community in innovating products, expanding markets, and improving service quality. These results not only confirm the rapid recovery of the industry, but also show strong potential for development in the coming time.

Appreciating the initiative of Mobifone Telecommunications Corporation in proposing and developing the Hi Vietnam product, Director Nguyen Trung Khanh commented that this is a step in line with the trend of developing smart tourism, bringing practical value to tourists, effectively supporting destination management and improving the quality of tourism services. With the efforts and cooperation of all parties, Director Nguyen Trung Khanh believes that the tourism industry will successfully build a modern, convenient, safe and more attractive tourism service ecosystem for international visitors to Vietnam, helping the Vietnamese tourism industry continue to develop and integrate more deeply into the global economy.

At the seminar, delegates listened to Mr. Nguyen Quy Phuong, Head of the Department of International Relations and Tourism Promotion (Vietnam National Administration of Tourism), give an overview of world tourism trends and the tourism situation in Vietnam. Accordingly, in 2024, world tourism has basically recovered and continued to grow in 2025, in which the Asia-Pacific region has a high recovery rate. Ecotourism, community tourism, resorts, health care, nature-based tourism and sustainable tourism continue to be trends this year.

He also said that Vietnam is an attractive destination, highly competitive in the region and the world with many beautiful landscapes and a rich culture. Markets in Northeast Asia are the main tourist markets of Vietnam Tourism. With the growth rate as in the first months of the year, it is forecasted that Vietnam Tourism industry will be able to achieve the set goals in 2025.

Mr. Phuong said that in the context of digital transformation, tourists coming to Vietnam also require a high level of personalization, shifting from traditional tours to using online services, having a need for more experiences; using artificial intelligence (AI) in itinerary design, etc., requiring destinations and businesses to change to adapt.

Mr. Pham Hoang Hong Chuyen - Representative of the Immigration Department (Ministry of Public Security) introduced a number of regulations on immigration management for international visitors to Vietnam. He said that from August 15, 2023, Vietnam's visa policy has become much more open, in order to create more favorable conditions for international visitors and investors, promoting tourism development. Specifically, citizens of all countries and territories can apply for an electronic visa (e-visa) to enter Vietnam for a maximum period of 90 days, with single or multiple entries; Vietnam is currently exempting visas for citizens of 29 countries under unilateral and bilateral agreements. Recently, according to the Tourism Development Stimulus Program in 2025, Vietnam exempted visas for citizens of the following countries: Poland, the Czech Republic and the Swiss Confederation. The representative of the Immigration Department also hopes to have the cooperation of the tourism community to ensure a safe environment for tourists and for the sustainable development of Vietnam's tourism industry.

On this occasion, Mobifone Telecommunications Corporation introduced the Hi Vietnam tourism product - a technology product for international tourists upon entering Vietnam. Not only providing convenient services of free travel SIM or eSIM, Hi Vietnam also integrates a smart tourism platform to help tourists easily access destination information, book related services, make international payments and support multiple languages. Mobifone is expected to officially launch Hi Vietnam in the early third quarter of 2025.
