(CT) - On March 26, within the framework of the 6th Vietnam International Shrimp Technology Exhibition 2025 (VietShrimp 2025), the Workshop "Greening the Vietnam Shrimp Industry" was held in Can Tho City, organized by the Department of Fisheries and Fisheries Resources under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (MARD), in coordination with the Vietnam Fisheries Association and related units.
Green transformation in shrimp farming and aquaculture in general is not only a trend but also an urgent requirement to better meet the increasing demands of the international market, as well as regulations, laws and environmental standards both domestically and internationally. Shrimp farming and processing and aquaculture towards green growth and emission reduction also help businesses and farmers ensure environmental criteria in accordance with international certifications, facilitating the expansion of consumption markets and improving production efficiency.

Vietnam has exported seafood to more than 170 countries and territories, with a turnover of more than 10 billion USD. In particular, the shrimp industry has played an important role in seafood exports over the past two decades. In recent years, shrimp has contributed about 40-45% of the total seafood export value.
At the workshop, specialized agencies under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, associations, enterprises and related units updated and provided information on the production, processing and export of shrimp in our country, mainly brackish water shrimp (tiger shrimp, white-leg shrimp); the current export situation and solutions to develop the Vietnamese shrimp industry towards green growth; challenges and requirements on standards and quality of imported shrimp products in some key shrimp export markets of our country. At the same time, information on programs, projects and orientations, support and incentive policies of the State in developing shrimp farming and aquatic products towards green, sustainable and emission reduction. Sharing experiences, good practices and effective models in shrimp farming in Vietnam and in other countries, especially the circular farming model to optimize inputs and outputs...
Delegates also discussed and proposed solutions to promote the development of the shrimp industry towards green and sustainable growth and enhance the value chain, helping to increase profits for farmers and related parties.
