Promoting circular economy development in agricultural production

Circular economy in agriculture is a production process based on a closed cycle. By applying advances in science and technology, biotechnology and physical-chemical technology, waste and by-products will be recycled, becoming input materials for new processes with the aim of creating safe, high-quality products.

This process helps reduce loss, reduce emissions to the environment and helps farmers save on production and farming costs, increase economic efficiency, raise awareness of reusing by-products and protecting the environment in production.

In recent years, the province has always paid attention to developing agricultural production according to the circular economic model through many programs and effective agricultural production models.

The mechanized and circular organic rice production model at Nhan Ly Agricultural Service Cooperative, Phu Xuan Commune, Binh Xuyen District gives outstanding product quality and economic efficiency.

Examples include the model of applying organic fertilizers to produce rice in an organic direction, using microbiological technology to treat stubble right in the field, reducing the time to change crops, reducing the amount of chemical fertilizers, increasing rice yield and quality, and reducing air pollution caused by burning straw. Through practical implementation, the amount of fertilizer has been reduced by about 20%, and rice yield has increased from 3-5 quintals/ha.

The model of reducing environmental pollution in livestock farming using biological products not only protects the environment but also significantly increases economic efficiency, in which, raising cows, economic efficiency increases by over 14%; raising chickens, economic efficiency increases by over 13%; raising pigs, economic efficiency increases by over 9%...

The program of collecting, transporting and destroying used fertilizer and pesticide packaging helps to minimize negative impacts on the environment and public health...

According to the leader of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, in order to further promote the development of circular economy in agricultural production, in the coming time, the Department of Agriculture and Environment will focus on researching and advising the province to issue appropriate and effective incentive and support mechanisms and policies to develop circular economy in agriculture.

Promote propaganda and raise awareness among agencies, organizations, businesses and people about the meaning, benefits and methods of implementing circular economy in agriculture; encourage businesses, organizations and individuals to invest in circular agriculture, develop recycling industry, and increase the use of environmentally friendly products.

Strengthening the transfer of scientific and technological applications and innovation in circular agriculture, improving production capacity and product quality. Focusing on investing in research, development and transfer of biotechnology, physical-chemical technology, information technology, green technology, etc. to serve the circular agriculture model.

Reorganize production, apply science and technology synchronously in a closed cycle, reduce the use of chemical input materials, make maximum use of waste and by-products of this process as input for other production processes.

Thereby, minimizing waste and post-harvest loss, creating safe, high-quality products, especially minimizing and eliminating waste that pollutes the environment, protecting the ecosystem and human health.
