According to information from the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, the number of visitors to golf course locations is currently increasing rapidly. The cost of playing golf in Vietnam is also relatively competitive compared to other countries in the region. Most of the golf courses today are new with full equipment, infrastructure, and modern, convenient facilities.
Notably, the golf courses are built in areas and locations with unique geographical locations and terrains. Many courses are designed by world golf legends, including the legendary Greg Norman - Vietnam Tourism Ambassador.
This is proof that Vietnam has full potential, strengths and opportunities to develop golf tourism with beautiful natural landscapes, diverse mountainous terrain and a coastline stretching over 3,200km.
According to the latest statistics, Vietnam currently has nearly 100 golf courses in operation and the goal is to have about 200 golf courses in operation in the future.
A representative of the General Department of Tourism said that in the coming time, when the economic situation recovers and stabilizes, the construction of golf courses will continue to be promoted, making Vietnam an attractive golf tourism destination for domestic and international tourists.
In Quang Nam, Hoiana Resort & Golf with Hoiana Shores Golf Club was ranked 18th in the top 100 golf courses in Asia 2023 - 2024 by Golf Travel China and Golf Travel Korea magazines. This is also the highest ranking among golf courses in Vietnam.
Mr. Steven Wolstenholme - CEO of Hoiana Resort & Golf said that Hoiana Shores golf course received special love and many compliments from tourists and golfers from Korea and Taiwan.
In 2023 alone, Hoiana Shores will welcome more than 65,000 golfers, of which approximately 95% will come from these two markets.
Quang Nam is considered an ideal destination thanks to its 125km long coastline, tropical climate, diverse terrain and relatively complete and accessible traffic infrastructure.
Therefore, developing golf tourism will help Quang Nam attract a large number of domestic and foreign tourists who are passionate about this sport, especially high-spending tourists who stay long to experience golf courses.
Not to mention, golf tourism also helps Quang Nam develop “four-season” tourism. Thanks to the year-round warm climate, tourists, especially international tourists, often choose Quang Nam as a destination to play golf in the winter months.
A representative of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that golf tourism is a potential direction for Quang Nam to develop off-season tourism, especially in the last months of the year when this is no longer the peak season for domestic tourism.
