On October 22, at the British Parliament in London, Vietnamese Ambassador to the UK Do Minh Hung had a working session with Speaker of the British House of Commons Lindsay Hoyle. According to a VNA correspondent in London, within the framework of the meeting, Ambassador Do Minh Hung emphasized the priority of promoting inter-parliamentary cooperation between the two countries in the coming time, especially in exchanging delegations at all levels, building laws, sharing experiences, supporting each other at international forums, coordinating to solve regional and international issues and enhancing people-to-people exchanges. Ambassador Do Minh Hung highly appreciated the contributions of the British Parliament, Government and people to Vietnam in recent times, especially the timely support in overcoming the consequences of storm No. 3 (international name Yagi). The Ambassador expressed his hope that in the coming time, the two sides will continue to cooperate closely in many fields to consolidate and deepen the strategic partnership between the two countries. (Photo: VNA) Ambassador Do Minh Hung respectfully conveyed a letter from National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man inviting Speaker of the UK House of Commons Lindsay Hoyle to visit Vietnam in 2025. Speaker of the House of Commons Lindsay Hoyle happily accepted the invitation and said he would arrange to visit Vietnam soon, and expressed his wish to welcome National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and Vietnamese National Assembly delegations to the UK. He highly appreciated Vietnam's achievements in foreign affairs, economy, culture and society in recent times and expressed his belief in Vietnam's increasingly important role in economic development and a peaceful and prosperous environment in the region. The Speaker of the UK House of Commons hopes that the two sides will promote cooperation in the fields of trade, green finance, energy transition, innovation research, production and tourism. Ambassador Do Minh Hung then worked with Deputy Speaker of the House of Commons, Ms. Judith Cummins, and MPs Mark Hendrick and Mark Garnier. At the meeting, the Ambassador asked British parliamentarians to continue supporting the promotion of Vietnam-UK relations in many areas, especially economics, finance, trade, energy, education, national defense and security, and people-to-people exchange. The Ambassador expressed his hope that the British Parliament would soon establish the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Vietnam (APPG Vietnam) to promote bilateral cooperation more effectively. British parliamentarians all have respect and affection for Vietnam and are actively lobbying the British Parliament to soon establish the APPG Vietnam, affirming their readiness to take on key positions in the group and will actively support delegations from Vietnam to visit and work in the UK, while promoting relations between the two sides in the coming time.
