The province currently has about 1,300 agricultural, forestry and fishery processing establishments. Promoting the development of the processing industry for these groups not only contributes to solving employment for local workers, but also significantly increases the value of Thanh Hoa's abundant raw material area.
According to the Department of Industry and Trade, Thanh Hoa's agricultural, forestry and fishery processing industry is focusing on two main groups: Food and beverage processing and forestry processing. In which, the food and beverage processing industry occupies an important position in Thanh Hoa province's industry. This industry has successfully developed chains from production to processing. Typically, in livestock farming, there are Vinamilk Group, TH True Milk Group, DABACO Group, RTD Group Joint Stock Company... In the agricultural sector, there are enterprises processing pineapples and canned cucumbers for export associated with the consumption of raw material areas of Tu Thanh Company Limited, Viet Agricultural Products Processing and Export Joint Stock Company, Trung Thanh Agricultural Products Processing Joint Stock Company...
At Viet Agricultural Products Processing and Export Joint Stock Company, thanks to proactively locating raw materials and applying many new technologies to production, bringing to the market high-quality agricultural products that meet the needs of each customer segment in the world, the company's products have quickly appeared in many large markets such as the EU, Russia, the UK... contributing to creating stable jobs for nearly 100 workers. Director of Viet Agricultural Products Processing and Export Joint Stock Company Nguyen Van Quynh said: "In 2024, the company's consumption output increased by 20% over the same period. The trend of consuming processed foods is an advantage for many of the company's key products. In the forest product processing chain, 7 production linkage chains have been formed associated with processing and consuming forestry products with a total area of over 22,500 hectares. Typically: the linkage chain between 111 household groups in Thach Thanh district and Xuan Son Joint Stock Company; the linkage chain between Ngoc Son Joint Stock Company and a group of 69 households in Tam Thanh and Tam Lu communes (Quan Son); the linkage chain between Quang Thanh Thang Company Limited and a household group in Vinh Loc district; the linkage chain between Dam Xuan Company Limited and a household group in Cam Thuy; the linkage chain between a household group in Muong Min, Son Dien communes, Son Lu town (Quan Son) and a group of 3 enterprises committed to supporting the group to maintain and purchase FSC-certified products with Bamboo Vina Production and Trading Company Limited, Eco Bamboo Vietnam Joint Stock Company, Bamboo King Vina Joint Stock Company...
In addition to domestic consumption, many agricultural, forestry and fishery products have been successfully exported to markets such as Japan, China, Europe, Korea, Thailand and Singapore... This is the basis and condition for localities in the province to build high-quality, highly efficient agricultural production areas to sustainably serve the raw material source for the processing industry.
However, according to the Department of Industry and Trade, the agricultural processing industry in the province still has many limitations, with most of the primary products having low added value. In particular, the food and beverage processing industry currently has a production value of about 2,300 to 2,500 billion VND/year, an average growth of about 13%/year, 12.05% lower than the average industrial growth of the province. The forestry processing industry only has a production value of about 1,000 billion VND/year, an average growth of only 1.31%/year, 23.78% lower than the industrial growth of the province. Along with that, the linkage between the stages in the production - processing - consumption value chain is not really tight; there are not many products with high economic value; the content of science and technology in the production and processing of agricultural products is still limited due to enterprises.
To gradually overcome limitations and shortcomings, in order to build and expand large raw agricultural production areas, Thanh Hoa province continues to attract and select large companies and corporations to process and trade branded agricultural products to increase opportunities for sustainable and effective development for raw material areas that the province has, is and will build. At the same time, encourage the development of small and medium-sized agricultural processing enterprises to process and consume products on the spot in clusters linked by each industry for farmers.
