The province currently has approximately 1,300 agricultural, forestry, and aquatic product processing facilities. Promoting the development of processing industries for these sectors will not only contribute to job creation for local workers but also significantly increase the value of Thanh Hoa's abundant raw material resources.

According to the Department of Industry and Trade, Thanh Hoa's agricultural, forestry, and fisheries processing industry is focusing on two main sectors: food and beverage processing, and forestry product processing. Of these, the food and beverage processing sector holds a significant position in Thanh Hoa province's industry. This sector has successfully developed integrated supply chains from production to processing. Examples include Vinamilk Group, TH True Milk Group , DABACO Group, and RTD Group JSC in livestock farming. In the agricultural sector, there are businesses processing canned pineapples and cucumbers for export, linked to guaranteed raw material sourcing areas, such as Tu Thanh Co., Ltd., Vietnam Agricultural Products Processing and Export JSC, and Trung Thanh Agricultural Products Processing JSC.
At Vietnam Agricultural Products Processing and Export Joint Stock Company, thanks to proactively managing raw material sources and applying many new technologies to production, the company brings high-quality agricultural products to the market, meeting the needs of various customer segments worldwide . The company's products have quickly entered many major markets such as the EU, Russia, and the UK, contributing to stable employment for nearly 100 workers. Mr. Nguyen Van Quynh, Director of Vietnam Agricultural Products Processing and Export Joint Stock Company, stated: “In 2024, the company's sales volume increased by 20% compared to the same period. The trend of consuming processed food is an advantage for many of the company's key products. Focusing on processing these products not only helps the company expand its market but also contributes to consuming a large volume of agricultural raw materials during the peak harvest season.”
In the forest product processing chain, seven production linkages have been formed, linking the processing and consumption of forestry products with a total area of over 22,500 hectares. Typical examples include: the linkage between 111 household groups in Thach Thanh district and Xuan Son Joint Stock Company; the linkage between Ngoc Son Joint Stock Company and a group of 69 households in Tam Thanh and Tam Lu communes (Quan Son); the linkage between Quang Thanh Thang Limited Company and a household group in Vinh Loc district; the linkage between Dam Xuan Limited Company and a household group in Cam Thuy; and the linkage between a household group in Muong Min, Son Dien communes and Son Lu town (Quan Son) and three businesses committed to supporting the group in maintaining and purchasing FSC-certified products: Bamboo Vina Production and Trading Limited Company, Eco Bamboo Vietnam Joint Stock Company, and Bamboo King Vina Joint Stock Company...
Besides domestic consumption, many agricultural, forestry, and aquatic products have now been successfully exported to markets such as Japan, China, Europe, South Korea, Thailand, and Singapore... This provides a basis and conditions for localities in the province to develop high-quality and efficient agricultural production areas to sustainably supply raw materials for the processing industry.
However, according to the Department of Industry and Trade, the agricultural processing industry in the province still has many limitations, with most semi-processed products having low added value. Specifically, the food and beverage processing sector currently achieves a production value of approximately 2,300 to 2,500 billion VND per year, with an average growth rate of just over 13% per year, which is 12.05% lower than the province's average industrial growth rate. The forestry processing sector only achieves a production value of around 1,000 billion VND per year, with an average growth rate of only 1.31% per year, which is 23.78% lower than the province's industrial growth rate. Furthermore, the linkages between stages in the production-processing-consumption value chain are not yet truly strong; there are not many products with high economic value; and the scientific and technological content in agricultural production and processing remains limited due to the nature of the businesses.
To gradually overcome limitations and shortcomings, and to build and expand large-scale agricultural raw material production areas, Thanh Hoa province continues to attract and select large companies and corporations specializing in processing and trading branded agricultural products to increase opportunities for sustainable and efficient development of the raw material areas that the province has, is, and will develop. At the same time, it encourages the development of small and medium-sized agricultural processing enterprises to process and consume products locally within clusters for each agricultural sector, benefiting local farmers.
