Regarding cultural institutions, the district has 1 traditional cultural house of the Van Kieu and Pa Ko ethnic groups; 1 traditional long house of the Pa Ko people in A Ngo commune; 1 cultural house in the district center; 7 standard commune cultural houses; 75/78 villages and hamlets have community activity houses; 70% of villages and hamlets have invested in equipment for cultural activities.
Along with that are the tangible and intangible cultural values with many unique forms of the Van Kieu and Pa Ko people, including 51 types of tangible and intangible cultural forms (of which the Van Kieu ethnic group has 27 forms, the Pa Ko ethnic group has 24 forms). Notably, on November 10, 2023, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism signed Decision No. 3420/QD-BVHTTDL promulgating the List of National Intangible Cultural Heritages. Accordingly, the Arieu Ping festival of the Pa Ko people in Dakrong and Huong Hoa districts is a national intangible cultural heritage.
Implementing Resolution No. 33-NQ/TW of the Central Executive Committee of the Party on "building and developing Vietnamese culture and people to meet the requirements of sustainable national development", in recent years, the Party Committee and the Dakrong District Government have issued many documents directing and organizing implementation. Notably, Resolution No. 14/2017/NQ-HDND dated December 21, 2017 of the District People's Council on investment, conservation, restoration and prevention of degradation of the system of historical and cultural relics in Dakrong District in the period of 2018-2020, towards 2025; Resolution No. 05-NQ/HU dated November 11, 2021 of the Dakrong District Party Executive Committee on building cultural life in the period of 2021-2025...
In addition, the ethnic people in the district always uphold the sense of responsibility, awareness of preserving, conserving and promoting the cultural values of the Van Kieu and Pa Ko ethnic groups; effectively implement the movement "All people unite to build a cultural life" associated with the construction of new rural areas, creating a healthy, rich and diverse cultural environment, contributing to improving the spiritual life of ethnic minorities.
In recent years, thanks to efforts to implement guidance and direction documents from superiors and national target programs, the work of preserving traditional cultural values of Dakrong district has achieved encouraging results.
This is clearly demonstrated through the investment in the construction and putting into use of the Van Kieu and Pa Ko Traditional Cultural House to serve the purpose of introducing and displaying artifacts; building the traditional long house of the Pa Ko ethnic group in A Ngo commune; restoring 16 traditional stilt houses of the Van Kieu ethnic group in Dakrong commune. Along with that, many traditional festivals of the Van Kieu and Pa Ko ethnic groups have been restored and preserved such as: Arieu ping (grave digging), A Da (new rice celebration), Pru Bor (pray for a good harvest)...
Traditional musical instruments such as gongs, drums, panpipes; folk songs such as Oat, Xa not, Ca loi- Cha chap, Xieng... are focused on preserving and promoting their values. The whole district has hundreds of gongs and cymbals kept in households, with 11 traditional festivals, 20 musical instruments, over 6 unique folk songs included in the conservation and development category. The district maintains 4 gong teams, many times participating in the International Gong Competition in the Central Highlands, the Cultural Village of Vietnamese Ethnic Groups and major cultural activities of the province and district, which are highly appreciated.
The Bru-Van Kieu writing system is widely taught to many people. In addition to preserving cultural values in the community, local authorities have had many policies calling on organizations to support ethnic minorities to organize training courses, train Bru-Van Kieu language teachers, traditional musical instrument artisans, gong artisans, brocade weaving... to preserve and pass on traditional cultural values to future generations.
Along with restoring traditional festivals, Dakrong district has successfully organized traditional cultural and artistic activities such as the Cultural-Sports-Tourism Festival of Ethnic Groups with many activities of rich content and form.
This is an opportunity for Dakrong district to honor the historical traditions and cultural identities of the ethnic groups in the area, educate the tradition of patriotism, promote the combined strength of the great national unity bloc; is an opportunity to promote and introduce the potential and advantages of the locality in developing community tourism, calling for promotion and investment promotion, contributing to improving people's lives, promoting socio-economic development.
To achieve the goal of building Dakrong into one of the stops on the East-West Economic Corridor, an attractive destination with its own characteristics on the tourism map, attracting domestic and international tourists, it is necessary to promote propaganda about the position and importance of tourism development in the community; strongly innovate thinking and ways of developing tourism in line with the integration trend; exploit and promote the existing advantages and potentials of the locality; respect natural factors, natural landscapes and effectively exploit traditional cultural values in the locality.
Currently, the construction of a digital database on cultural heritage is receiving attention, aiming to create a treasure trove of detailed information on tangible and intangible values. This is not only useful in conservation work but also creates a foundation for maximizing the potential of heritage in the cultural industry.
For Dakrong district, in the immediate future, it is necessary to focus on investing in the creation of video products, clips, short films... taking advantage of the convenience of social networks to spread the values of traditional tangible and intangible cultural heritages of the locality.
Pay attention to applying science and technology to research, collect, restore, preserve, conserve and promote the value of traditional intangible cultural forms of the Van Kieu and Pa Ko ethnic groups.
Step by step digitize data on cultural forms, folk art, folk dance, folk music and other traditional heritages of ethnic minorities, serving the work of conservation, scientific research, teaching and propaganda, promotion and tourism development promotion.
