On the afternoon of October 26, the Border Guard force of Thua Thien Hue province went to the local area to support many households living in coastal areas to reinforce their houses in preparation for storm No. 6 (storm Tra Mi).

In Loc Vinh commune (Phu Loc district), officers and soldiers of Chan May Port Border Guard Station coordinated with local authorities to help households reinforce their houses with sandbags to limit the impact of wind when storm No. 6 approached the mainland.

Major Ho Trinh Hung - Chief of Chan May Port Border Guard Station said: The unit has sent forces to coordinate with local authorities to reinforce and brace houses for many single-parent households in areas at high risk of having their roofs blown off in Binh An 2 village, Loc Vinh commune.

In addition, the unit propagated that fishermen absolutely should not stay on fish cages in aquaculture areas in the breakwater area of ​​Chan May port and guided vessels to safe storm shelters.

Currently, the Provincial Border Guard Command, the Provincial Military Command of Thua Thien Hue and other agencies and units have developed plans for natural disaster prevention and search and rescue, strictly maintaining the regime of command duty, on-duty, combat readiness duty and rescue duty.

In the face of the complicated developments of storm Tra Mi, on October 26, Secretary of the Thua Thien Hue Provincial Party Committee Le Truong Luu and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Hai Minh inspected the situation of coastal erosion recovery at Phu Thuan beach, Phu Vang district and Thuan An town, Hue city.

Here, serious coastal erosion has occurred along a length of about 300m, eating into the mainland about 50m, damaging the sidewalk of the internal beach crossing, and putting the poplar trees on the sidewalk at risk of falling.

Although the waves were quite large, more than 200 people, including officers and soldiers of Thuan An Border Guard Station, together with soldiers of Squadron 2 (Border Guard of Thua Thien Hue Province), and militia and self-defense forces, immersed themselves in the sea water to transport each block of stone to reinforce vulnerable points, and implemented plans to prevent erosion to protect infrastructure works as well as ensure safety for people.

After the inspection, Mr. Le Truong Luu requested the local Party Committee, government and relevant agencies to urgently assess the damage and develop a plan to repair the embankment system, preventing further sea erosion.

According to the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Thua Thien Hue province, it is forecasted that due to the influence of the western edge of storm No. 6, the total rainfall in the province will be about 100-300 mm, in some places over 500 mm, the rain will be concentrated on October 27 and 28.
