Prime Minister asks VTV to restructure and drastically reduce internal organization

(Dan Tri) - To thoroughly implement the streamlining of the organizational apparatus, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested VTV to take over the functions and tasks of television stations, while restructuring and drastically reducing the internal organization.
This request was made by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh when giving a directive speech at the conference summarizing the work of 2024 and deploying the tasks of 2025 of Vietnam Television (VTV), on the morning of January 11. The head of the Government acknowledged that in recent times, VTV has always affirmed its position as a national television station, a multimedia communications agency, excellently completing assigned tasks and achieving outstanding results, with many unique, diverse programs, elaborate investment, creating positive effects. However, the Prime Minister shared his concerns that some of VTV's programs are not yet of high quality in terms of expertise, not yet strong breakthroughs; the technical technology infrastructure is not yet synchronized; digital technology human resources are still weak; there are still shortcomings in the organizational structure... In addition, he also shared his concerns about VTV's difficulties and challenges such as fierce competition from transnational digital platforms; rapidly developing technology, requiring large investment resources; the trend of cutting advertising and marketing costs; high copyright prices... In 2025, according to the Government leader, we must strive to successfully achieve the goals of the entire term; while streamlining the organizational apparatus; successfully organizing party congresses at all levels, towards the 14th National Party Congress; organizing important national holidays; creating momentum and breakthrough forces to accelerate the country's double-digit growth, preparing to enter a new era. Requesting VTV to promote information and communication on the above major and strategic contents, the Prime Minister noted many more key tasks. First of all, he asked VTV to innovate, be creative, and have effective ways to propagate the Party's policies, the State's laws, and the direction of the Government and the Prime Minister. VTV needs to continue promoting innovation, creativity, intelligence, enthusiasm, innovative thinking, strategic vision, foresight, thinking deeply and doing big things, diversifying products, diversifying viewers, diversifying resources, diversifying platforms, according to the requirements of the Government leaders. In particular, he noted that VTV should take the lead on the propaganda front, not allowing a media crisis to occur, actively fighting and refuting false, bad and toxic information, protecting the Party's ideological foundation, national and ethnic interests, and the legitimate rights of the people. The Prime Minister also directed VTV to focus on producing high-quality cultural and artistic products, developing the entertainment industry, meeting the people's enjoyment needs, contributing to building Vietnamese people with personality, ethics, intelligence, creativity, social responsibility, and civic duty. Along with that, he noted the need to promote digital transformation, improve technological capacity, and orient VTV to develop as a modern, multimedia media agency, leading in digital transformation, applying new technologies, and artificial intelligence. Regarding organizational structure and human resource training, the Prime Minister requested VTV to strictly and effectively implement the Resolutions of the Party, National Assembly, and Government on streamlining organizational structure, operating effectively and efficiently. Along with that, it is necessary to review and adjust the functions, tasks and powers of affiliated units, ensuring no overlap; promote the transformation of operating models. The most important thing is to improve the quality of operations, program quality and quality of enjoyment for the people and viewers, according to the Prime Minister. He said that VTV needs to build a dedicated, intelligent team, with policies to attract and use talents and high-quality human resources. In addition, the Prime Minister emphasized that information must be objective and honest, creating a movement to use beauty to eliminate ugliness, and use positivity to push back negativity.
