The Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Industry and Trade to complete the adjusted Power Plan VIII before May 10.

(PLVN) - To ensure electricity supply during peak months of 2025 and the coming time, the Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Industry and Trade to urgently complete and issue the Plan to implement the adjusted Power Plan VIII before May 10, promptly meeting the needs of production, business and people's lives.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has just signed Official Dispatch No. 49/CD-TTg on drastic, synchronous and effective implementation of solutions to ensure electricity supply during peak periods in 2025 and the coming time.

Ensuring national energy security and adequate electricity supply is one of the fundamental and decisive factors for successfully implementing the country's socio -economic growth goals.

In order to promptly meet electricity demand during peak months of 2025 (May, June, July) and the coming time, ensuring no power shortage in any case, the Prime Minister requested the Minister of Industry and Trade to urgently organize the implementation of the adjusted Power Plan VIII, promptly issue the Plan to implement the adjusted Power Plan VIII, to implement the goals and tasks set out in the plan, to be completed before May 10.

The Minister of Industry and Trade is fully responsible to the Government and the Prime Minister for ensuring adequate electricity supply to serve production and business activities and people's lives.

The Prime Minister also requested the Minister of Industry and Trade to direct the strengthening of inspection and supervision of the operation and urging the implementation of power source projects, to best prepare for power generation during peak months.

Regarding power source projects, the Ministry of Industry and Trade needs to focus on directing the acceleration of the implementation of important national projects and key energy sector projects that are included in the planning. In particular, urgently put Nhon Trach 3 Thermal Power Plant into operation in June 2025; Nhon Trach 4 Thermal Power Plant into operation in August 2025; connect Unit 1 of Quang Trach 1 Thermal Power Plant to the grid before September 2; put Unit 1 of Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant expansion project into operation in August 2025, Unit 2 into operation in October 2025.

Regarding power transmission projects, the Ministry of Industry and Trade needs to focus on ensuring the progress of transmission projects, implementing urgent solutions on transmission, purchasing electricity from abroad, such as the Lao Cai - Vinh Yen 500kV transmission line project, the Hai Phong - Thai Binh 500kV transmission line projects, and Than Uyen - Lao Cai to ensure completion before September 2.

The Minister of Agriculture and Environment (MARD) is assigned to preside over and closely coordinate with relevant ministries, agencies and localities, direct owners of hydroelectric reservoirs to calculate and make specific plans to take water from hydroelectric reservoirs to serve agricultural production, in which priority is given to reserving maximum reserve water for power generation during peak times, and enhancing solutions for water saving.

The Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to strengthen monitoring and forecasting of weather and natural disasters, closely monitor meteorological and hydrological situations to promptly provide accurate information to serve the direction and management work.

"The Minister of Finance directs and supervises EVN, TKV, and PVN to strengthen effective coordination, organize and well implement contracts for electricity purchase and sale, coal supply, and gas supply, all for the common goal, for the national interest, to prevent negativity, corruption, and waste; take responsibility for leading and directing the stable operation and promptly resolving incidents (if any) for the power sources of EVN, PVN, and TKV," the dispatch stated.

The Chairman and General Director of the following corporations: Vietnam Electricity, Vietnam National Energy Industry, Vietnam Coal and Mineral Industries Group and Dong Bac Corporation are assigned to focus on quickly and drastically implementing the power source and grid projects assigned as investors to ensure progress, quality, efficiency and environmental protection. Closely coordinate with ministries, branches and localities to remove difficulties in site clearance, connection, investment in power sources and grids.

The Prime Minister also directed power plants under the Group's management to prepare for production well, promptly overcome incidents, ensure operational efficiency and be able to mobilize maximum power generation capacity during peak months of 2025, absolutely not allowing fuel shortages (coal, gas, oil) for thermal power plants and water shortages in hydroelectric reservoirs according to the reservoir operation process approved by competent authorities.
