Prime Minister requests to ensure electricity supply during peak dry season

(DN) - On April 23, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh signed Official Dispatch No. 49/CD-TTg on the drastic, synchronous and effective implementation of solutions to ensure electricity supply during peak periods in 2025 and the coming time.

According to the telegram, this year, the electricity load is forecast to grow by 12.2% (2.1% higher than in 2024), with the national maximum capacity reaching 54,510 MW (an increase of 11.3% compared to 2024). To meet the electricity demand in the peak months of 2025 and the coming time, ministries, branches and localities must seriously and fully implement the Prime Minister's instructions on ensuring electricity supply.

In which, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, before May 10, 2025, shall issue a plan to implement the adjusted Power Plan VIII as a basis for project implementation. Strengthen inspection and supervision of the operation and urge the implementation of power source projects according to the plan. Direct the acceleration of the implementation of important national projects and key energy sector projects included in the plan, including urgently putting Nhon Trach 3 Thermal Power Plant into operation in June 2025, Nhon Trach 4 Power Plant into operation in August 2025 and a number of other projects...

Chairmen of People's Committees of provinces and centrally run cities shall direct local authorities to closely coordinate with central ministries, branches and relevant agencies to plan for reasonable water use for electricity production; make maximum use of wind and solar resources for electricity generation during peak periods. Effectively save electricity, especially in public lighting, lighting for advertising and outdoor decoration purposes; encourage the development of on-site power sources such as solar and wind power.
