The mutual success of the two countries
Speaking at the conference, Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong recalled that 10 years ago, he attended the groundbreaking ceremony of VSIP Quang Ngai, the 5th VSIP at that time. Since then, VSIPs have expanded to many provinces and cities across the North, Central and South of Vietnam. These VSIP industrial parks have attracted a total investment capital of 18 billion USD and created 300,000 jobs.
"The success of VSIP over the years would not have been possible without the support of the central and local governments of Vietnam," Mr. Lee Hsien Loong affirmed.
Speaking at the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that Singapore is an important partner of Vietnam. The two countries have enough conditions and foundations to upgrade to a new level. He asked the whole hall to give a round of applause to Singapore, the Singaporean Prime Minister and his wife for the support that this country has given to Vietnam during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Prime Minister affirmed that the VSIP industrial park model is a successful model and will continue to be successful in the future. "Your success is our success, with the spirit of harmonious benefits and sharing risks. Singapore investing in Vietnam will be successful" - he said.
Can Tho has VSIP for the first time
Can Tho is the newest of the three localities (along with Bac Ninh and Nghe An) where the Vietnam - Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) has been started. Unlike Bac Ninh, Nghe An already has a second VSIP industrial park. VSIP Can Tho is the first Vietnam - Singapore industrial park of this locality, and also the first VSIP industrial park of the Mekong Delta.
Speaking with Tuoi Tre Online , Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu - Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee - said that the Party Committee and the city government identified the VSIP Can Tho Industrial Park as one of the key projects for the city to focus on promoting economic restructuring towards industry, services, trade and high-tech agriculture.
The development of VSIP Can Tho Industrial Park will solve the employment needs of local people and neighboring provinces. In addition, local workers working in provinces far from their hometown will have the opportunity to return to work in this new industrial park, which is the desire of the city's leaders.
