This morning (December 3), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Government delegation inspected the progress and worked at the Long Thanh airport project in Dong Nai. At the construction site, the Prime Minister and the delegation visited, presented gifts and encouraged workers. At the same time, the Prime Minister went directly to the 4th floor of the passenger terminal to observe the construction of the roof trusses - the "heart" of this modern airport. This is the 5th time the Prime Minister has inspected the Long Thanh airport project site.

The Prime Minister then chaired a meeting with relevant ministries, agencies and localities. At the meeting, the Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) reported on the bidding packages organizing hundreds of construction teams with nearly 7,000 experts, engineers, workers and nearly 3,000 pieces of equipment. The construction was carried out scientifically, professionally and safely. For the passenger terminal (bidding package 5.10), to date, the joint venture has completed all reinforced concrete columns and floor beams from floors 1-4. The main frame roof steel structure has been processed, manufactured and painted to completion, with more than 16,800 tons (60%), and the installation work is 11,570 tons (40%).

In addition, the procurement and ordering of facade glass walls, main terminal roofs, terminal equipment, etc. are being implemented and contracts are being signed with suppliers. The work of completing, installing equipment, connecting the system, and conducting trial operations will begin in early 2026 and is expected to be completed before August 31, 2026. In addition, ACV proposed establishing a Steering Committee for preparing Long Thanh airport for operation, with the Ministry of Transport presiding over and coordinating the overall work. ACV also proposed accelerating the implementation of component projects 4 to ensure connectivity and synchronization during the operation of Long Thanh airport phase 1; expanding the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh expressway before September 2, 2026 so that when the airport is put into operation, it will ensure synchronization and efficiency.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh acknowledged and highly appreciated the progress of the projects at Long Thanh airport. However, he commented that when inspecting the site, the construction workforce was scattered and not synchronized. The Prime Minister requested that the construction unit, once the first floor was completed, continue to work on the interior, working in a rolling manner. If necessary, the relevant parties should mobilize additional subcontractors, police, and armed forces to work together, and there could be no further delay. In addition, the Prime Minister also requested that the relevant parties rebuild the progress critical path, ensuring the principle of rolling and synchronous work. "The parties need to focus their time and intelligence, working 24/7, not 3 shifts or 4 teams anymore. If something is missing or needed, or if there is a mechanism, it must be reported for handling. The spirit is to shorten the time by 6 months, to finish by December 31, 2025, and to exploit before February 28, 2026, not to wait until August 2026 anymore" - the Prime Minister emphasized the request.

In addition, the Prime Minister also noted the need to quickly build an "airport city", designing two districts, Long Thanh and Nhon Trach, with about 500,000 people and city-standard areas, to promote a synchronous ecosystem when the airport comes into operation.
