To celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day, on the morning of December 19, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the opening ceremony of the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024 - a key activity and highlight of international significance and stature.
Also attending were Politburo members: Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh; Minister of National Defense, General Phan Van Giang; Minister of Public Security, General Luong Tam Quang.
In addition, there were also Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army Trinh Van Quyet; Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son; Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Quang Phuong; Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, General Nguyen Tan Cuong; Ministers of Defense of Laos, Cambodia, Cuba, Belarus, Thailand, Brunei, Mongolia; leaders of central and local departments, ministries, branches, agencies; representatives of embassies and international organizations in Vietnam, leaders of the Ministry of Defense, and military commanders of the countries.

The opening ceremony was held grandly with special art performances by more than 2,000 officers and soldiers of the Vietnam People's Army; especially the welcome flight of the Vietnam Air Force, martial arts performance by the Special Forces and demonstration of professional skills by the Border Guard Dogs.
Speaking at the opening ceremony and pressing the button to open the Exhibition, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024 has special significance, being an outstanding international event with the message "Peace - Cooperation - Development", contributing to promoting foreign affairs and defense cooperation in all fields; for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.
The Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam is a peace-loving country that values justice, love, and reason in international cooperation relations.
Vietnam consistently implements the foreign policy of "independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, diversification of relations, being a good friend, a reliable partner with all countries and an active, responsible member of the international community."
Vietnam proactively promotes the expansion of foreign relations and defense cooperation to enhance friendship and mutual understanding, demonstrate sincerity and build trust, jointly address common security and safety challenges, prevent conflicts and prevent wars in accordance with the fundamental principles of international law; and contribute to peace, prosperity, and common development cooperation in the region and around the world.
According to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, having experienced much pain, sacrifice and loss due to war, Vietnam understands and cherishes the value of friendship, for peace, cooperation and development.
Vietnam firmly adheres to its "4 no's" defense policy, including not participating in military alliances, not aligning with one country to fight another, not allowing foreign countries to set up military bases or use its territory to fight against other countries, and not using force or threatening to use force in international relations.
Vietnam advocates building a revolutionary, regular, elite, and modern army; building a strong enough national defense potential to enhance the ability to defend and protect the country early, from afar, from the starting point.
Vietnam's strategic orientation is to develop a proactive, self-reliant, dual-use, modern and internationally integrated defense industry; prioritize research, development and application of advanced science and technology in the defense industry to optimize dual-use, both enhancing defense potential and developing the economy, serving the country's strategic interests and the practical lives of the people.
The Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024 is an affirmation of Vietnam's role and contribution to international defense cooperation; a symbol of trust, respect and goodwill for cooperation between countries for a peaceful, stable and prosperous world; a vivid demonstration of the support and meaningful affection of international friends for the country, people and the Vietnam People's Army - the heroic army of a heroic nation, always showing sincerity, trust and responsibility to international friends.
The Prime Minister said that the participation of 66 international delegations and more than 240 defense industry enterprises from 49 countries shows the prestige and brand in organizing Vietnam's Defense Exhibition.

The Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024 is an opportunity to strengthen the relationship and also an opportunity for Vietnam to welcome and show gratitude to international friends, share culture, art, cuisine, and introduce the country and people of Vietnam - a nation that is indomitable and brave in defending the Fatherland, but also peace-loving, hardworking, creative, friendly and hospitable.
Expressing his sincere thanks to the international guests, enterprises, corporations, military and security industry corporations of the countries participating in the Exhibition, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh believes that the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024 will be a great success, bringing many opportunities for exchanges, sharing experiences, exchanging scientific and technological advances, innovating digital transformation, promoting the development of military trade, opening up a promising future of cooperation, in line with the spirit of "Peace, friendship, cooperation and development."
Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024 is held at Gia Lam Airport, Hanoi from December 19 to 22, on a total area of over 100,000m2 with an indoor display area of 15,000m2 and an outdoor area of over 20,000m2.
The exhibition has more than 200 domestic and foreign units and enterprises from more than 30 countries in the ASEAN region, Asia, Europe, and America, including China, the United States, Russia, India, Israel, France, the United Kingdom, and Spain.
Participating in the exhibition, Vietnam has the presence and presentation of 69 types of equipment and weapons from 77 units, which are products of the defense industry autonomy such as the Military Industry - Telecommunications Group (Viettel), factories Z111, Z113, Z131, Z175, member companies of the General Department of Defense Industry, and companies under the Ministry of National Defense.
At the exhibition, many types of weapons and equipment were introduced such as airplanes, tanks, missiles, self-propelled artillery, armored vehicles, combat vehicles, radars, drones, guns and ammunition.
Weapon systems and military equipment are displayed outside the Exhibition space.
Within the framework of the Exhibition, there will be many activities to demonstrate and experience products, connect businesses, promote international military trade and in-depth technical presentations to help provide technological solutions, update information, and answer questions in the process of operating weapons and technical equipment.
In addition, the Exhibition also has activities introducing the culture, country, people of Vietnam and the glorious traditions and achievements of the Vietnam People's Army over the past 80 years.
At the same time, the Exhibition also shares Vietnam's defense foreign policy and guidelines; the policy of building the army and developing the defense industry.
The exhibition aims to strengthen and expand international cooperation and defense diplomacy, build trust between Vietnam and other countries in the world; share defense foreign policies and guidelines; advocate building the army and developing the defense industry; create conditions for countries, companies and domestic and international enterprises to introduce and display products, and seek opportunities to expand cooperation.
Along with that, the Exhibition contributes to strengthening international cooperation in the defense industry, diversifying cooperation channels for purchasing, receiving, and transferring technology to produce technical equipment and logistics equipment to meet the requirements of the armed forces; studying the development trends of weapons and technical equipment in the world to propose, select, purchase, produce, and improve weapons and equipment for the army; promoting and propagating the capacity, technological potential, and weapons and equipment produced by the Vietnamese defense industry to international friends and domestic people; seeking opportunities to export defense industry products./.
