Prime Minister receives Governor and delegation of businesses from Yamaguchi province, Japan

The Prime Minister said that the two sides need to expand the export of typical Vietnamese products to Yamaguchi province and vice versa, promoting the export of some Yamaguchi specialties to the Vietnamese market.


Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Mr. Muraoka Tsugumasa, Governor of Yamaguchi Province (Japan).

On the evening of December 16, at the Government Headquarters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Mr. Muraoka Tsugumasa, Governor of Yamaguchi Prefecture, and a delegation of delegates and businesses from Yamaguchi Prefecture (Japan) who visited Vietnam and attended the 10th anniversary of the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between Yamaguchi Prefecture and Binh Duong.

Welcoming the Governor and the delegation of Yamaguchi Prefecture to visit and work in Vietnam; thanking the Governor for his affection for Vietnam as well as his efforts in promoting cooperation and exchange between Yamaguchi Prefecture and Vietnam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh was pleased to witness the strong, effective and substantive development of the Vietnam-Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in all fields, with high political trust.

Japan continues to be Vietnam's leading economic partner, ODA provider, first labor cooperation partner, third investor, fourth trade and tourism partner of Vietnam.

Local exchange and cooperation activities between the two countries have also taken place actively and become increasingly deeper with more than 100 documents signed to establish friendly and cooperative relations between localities of Vietnam and Japan.

The Vietnamese community living, studying and working in Japan currently has about 600,000 people, making it the second largest foreign community in Japan.

The Prime Minister said that Vietnam is promoting three strategic breakthroughs in institutions, infrastructure, and human resources to reduce compliance costs, logistics costs, and travel costs for people and businesses, and improve labor productivity and the competitiveness of goods. He asked Japan to continue supporting Vietnam in implementing the above breakthroughs; at the same time, promote cultural exchange, labor cooperation, training of high-quality human resources, and cooperation in responding to population aging.

In the overall bilateral relationship, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated the results of extensive and effective cooperation between Yamaguchi province and Binh Duong province over the past 10 years.

Yamaguchi is also a land of talented people, the hometown of many Japanese Prime Ministers, especially Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who has made great and positive contributions to the development of Vietnam-Japan relations.

In the coming time, to contribute to deepening the Vietnam - Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that the two sides need to expand exchanges and cooperation, including expanding the export of typical Vietnamese products to Yamaguchi province and vice versa, promoting the export of some Yamaguchi specialties to the Vietnamese market, thereby contributing to enhancing exchanges and expanding cooperation in various fields.

Thanking the provincial government for creating favorable conditions for Vietnamese people to live, study and work, improve their lives, enhance their vocational skills and integrate into the local society, the Prime Minister wished to continue promoting the field of labor cooperation between the two sides; and requested the Yamaguchi provincial government to continue supporting Vietnamese citizens studying and doing business in the province.

In addition to Binh Duong province, Yamaguchi province needs to research and establish more partnerships with other localities in Vietnam.

Governor Muraoka Tsugumasa and members of the Yamaguchi Delegation expressed their delight at the upgrading of the two countries' relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership; and assessed that Vietnam is currently a country with great influence in the international arena.

Thanking Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh for his suggestions on expanding cooperation with Vietnam in general and Binh Duong and Vietnamese localities in particular, Governor Muraoka Tsugumasa affirmed that he will study and promote further cooperation with Binh Duong province and Vietnamese localities in various fields; committed to closely coordinate with Vietnam to promote cooperation in human resource training; and also hoped that Vietnam would open its doors for some of the province's specialties to be exported to Vietnam./.
