The Ras Laffan Refinery and Petrochemical Complex is managed by Qatar's state-owned oil and gas company QatarEnergy. It is the main liquefied natural gas (LNG) production site in Qatar and the world's largest LNG export facility.
This complex is located 80km north of the capital Doha, concentrating many of Qatar's large oil refineries and gas processing plants such as ORYX GTL, Pearl GTL, Dolphin... and a port with the world's largest artificial bay (4,500ha of closed water surface area).
Ras Laffan was put into operation in 1996 with the role of storing and processing natural gas obtained from the North Field (the world's largest natural gas field off the coast of Qatar, discovered in 1971).
Over time, industrial plants serving the production of liquefied petroleum gas at Ras Laffan increased in demand, transforming Ras Laffan into a large-scale industrial zone.
Currently, there are 13 large corporations and companies in the gas production industry operating here.
Besides factories and industrial zones, Ras Laffan also has a number of other infrastructures such as Ras Laffan Safety and Emergency Training Center, Erhama bin Jaber Al Jalahma Shipyard, Ras Laffan Hospital... with top quality in Qatar.
Here, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh thanked the very useful information and said that the topic of energy was discussed a lot by the leaders of the two countries in recent talks and meetings.
He expressed hope that with the close cooperation of both sides, including the interest of QatarEnergy and Ras Laffan, the energy sector will become an important, increasingly substantive and effective field of cooperation between the two countries.
Previously, on October 31, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Mr. Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi, Qatar's Minister of State for Energy Affairs and CEO of QatarEnergy Company.
Qatar is the world's largest exporter of liquefied gas, with its main resources being gas reserves of more than 25,000 billion m3 , ranking 3rd in the world; oil reserves of 25.24 billion barrels (ranking 14th in the world), with an output of 1.53 million barrels/day.
QatarEnergy is the state-owned oil and gas company of Qatar, responsible for managing all oil and gas operations in the country.
