According to a special correspondent of Vietnam News Agency, from October 29-31, the 8th Future Investment Initiative (FII) Conference took place in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, with the theme "Endless Horizons: Investing Today, Shaping the Future."

The conference was initiated by the Saudi Arabia Future Investment Initiative Institute, a non-profit organization established by the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia.

The FII Conference was first held in October 2017 with the aim of bringing together policy makers, investors, entrepreneurs and young leaders to discuss international investment and the global economy.

The event, also known as “Davos in the Desert,” attracted about 6,000 participants from nearly 100 countries around the world, including leaders of the world's leading countries, businesses, corporations, and international organizations.

This year, the FII 8 Conference is held to continue to bring the world's pioneering leaders together and discuss the potential of investment to bring a prosperous and sustainable future for the whole world, especially investment in important areas for the future of humanity such as AI, renewable energy, green finance, etc.

Speaking at the Conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated the Conference's theme "Endless Horizon: Investing today, orienting for tomorrow" because this is a good opportunity to exchange, share, and propose investment cooperation initiatives, overcoming all limits to move towards a sustainable and prosperous future.

The Prime Minister acknowledged that today's world is tending towards polarization of political order; diversification of product markets; greening of production and business; digitalization of all human and social activities. This affects every country, region, field, and citizen. This reality requires all stakeholders to join hands to solve problems of a comprehensive, all-people, all-round, and global nature; and to invest effectively, responsibly, and with a vision for the future.

In particular, it is necessary not to politicize development investment; it is necessary to focus on encouraging all investments for development, especially investments in science and technology, innovation, improving the quality of human resources, digital transformation, green transformation, circular economy, and responding to climate change to effectively promote the potentials and strengths of each country, ethnic group, and each subject to rise together, towards "Endless Horizons."

Citing Vietnam's reality, the Prime Minister said that from a poor, backward agricultural country, severely devastated by 40 years of war and embargoed for 30 years, Vietnam has made tireless, determined, persistent, and steadfast efforts to implement the policy of innovation, opening up, integrating, and developing a socialist-oriented market economy, rising to be among the 34 largest economies in the world; the top 20 economies in terms of trade, having signed 17 free trade agreements, opening markets with over 60 countries and territories.

Therefore, with this conference, Vietnam hopes that partners, the business community and investors will promote their pioneering role in leading and orienting future development. In particular, it is necessary to accompany, support, help and promote cooperation and investment in developing and poor countries, "leaving no one behind."

Appreciating the good friendship between Vietnam and Saudi Arabia, the Prime Minister especially appreciated the “Look East” policy of the Middle Eastern countries. The two countries have many similarities and strengths that can support and complement each other, both valuing time and intelligence, and new fields.

Therefore, the Prime Minister hopes that partners, businesses and investors will continue to promote investment and business in Vietnam, especially in areas of demand: digital transformation, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, internet of things, renewable energy, smart cities, smart infrastructure, smart governance, etc.

The Prime Minister emphasized that Vietnam has always adhered to the policy of increasing the attraction of all resources from both inside and outside. Vietnam always promotes the implementation of strategic institutional breakthroughs, creating a favorable legal environment, a transparent investment and business environment, and high competitiveness in the region and globally. Vietnam is focusing on investing in developing a synchronous and modern strategic infrastructure system, especially transport and logistics infrastructure.

Vietnam always pays great attention to training human resources, especially high-quality human resources. At the same time, Vietnam invests in consolidating and enhancing its national defense and security potential, maintaining political and social stability, firmly protecting independence and sovereignty, creating a solid foundation to ensure security, safety and maintain a peaceful, stable, long-term, and favorable environment for businesses and investors.
