During just over 2 days of working in Saudi Arabia, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had more than 20 bilateral and multilateral activities.
The Prime Minister attended and delivered an important speech at the ASEAN-GCC Summit; held bilateral meetings with heads of delegations from countries attending the conference such as the Prime Minister of Laos, Prime Minister of Cambodia, President of the Philippines, President of Indonesia, Prime Minister of Singapore, King of Qatar, President of the UAE, etc.; along with bilateral activities and promoting multifaceted relations with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Speaking at the ASEAN-GCC Summit, the Prime Minister said that ASEAN and the GCC need to join hands to arouse the will of self-reliance and self-strengthening; unleash development resources and implement activities in a practical and effective manner with the highest political determination; take drastic actions to make bilateral cooperation make a strong breakthrough in the coming time to become a bright spot of regional and global cooperation.
In particular, the Prime Minister proposed promoting three connections, including connecting people, culture, and labor; connecting trade, investment, and tourism; and connecting infrastructure through strategic infrastructure investment to promote ASEAN-GCC cooperation, for peace, stability, and prosperity of both regions and the world.
In the context of tensions at several “hot spots” in the world, the Prime Minister also expressed Vietnam’s viewpoint and received high consensus from other countries on resolving disagreements through peaceful measures, based on international law.
At bilateral meetings with ASEAN and GCC member countries, the Prime Minister and leaders of the countries reviewed the results of cooperation between the two sides and proposed orientations to promote deeper cooperation.
In particular, the Prime Minister's visit to the GCC Secretariat and witnessing the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the GCC Secretariat showed that Vietnam is ready to be a bridge between ASEAN and the GCC countries.
In Saudi Arabia, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with the Prime Minister and Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia; received ministers, government officials, royal family members, and major economic groups and investment funds of Saudi Arabia; attended and spoke at the Vietnam - Saudi Arabia Business Forum, met with officials of the Vietnamese Embassy and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Saudi Arabia.
Bilateral activities between Vietnam and Saudi Arabia show that the potential for cooperation between the two countries is still very large. Therefore, the two sides agreed to continue to strengthen relations and promote cooperation in all fields, especially the oil and gas industry, tourism, Halal industry, human resource training, labor and employment, etc.
In particular, the Prime Minister suggested that Saudi Arabia's investment funds consider large-scale investments in areas that Vietnam prioritizes for development such as strategic infrastructure, green economy, innovation, high technology, industry, renewable energy, etc.
During the visit, many cooperation documents on justice, diplomacy, crime prevention, tourism and trade promotion were signed by the two countries, creating a legal framework and favorable conditions for cooperation for both sides in the coming time.
The working trip to Saudi Arabia by the Prime Minister and the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation was a great success, contributing to strengthening political trust and improving the effectiveness of cooperation in the fields of politics, diplomacy, trade, investment, ODA, labor, etc. between Vietnam and GCC countries, especially between Vietnam and Saudi Arabia in the coming time.
