At 10:30 a.m. on October 23 (local time), the plane carrying Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation landed at Kazan International Airport (Russian Federation), starting the trip to attend the BRICS Leaders' Meeting at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin, BRICS Chair in 2024, on October 23 and 24.
Welcoming Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation at the airport on the Russian side were: Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan; First Deputy Mayor of Kazan City; Minister of the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan; Deputy Head of the Protocol Department.
On the Vietnamese side, there were Vietnamese Ambassador to the Russian Federation Dang Minh Khoi; Vietnamese Consul General in Ekaterinburg Nguyen Mai Huong; officials and staff of the Embassy, and members of the Vietnamese community in the Russian Federation...
BRICS Leaders' Meeting Plus This year's event took place in the context of the world's economic and political situation continuing to fluctuate in a complex manner. The global economy has an improving trend but continues to face many difficulties and challenges, especially the risk of declining growth, prolonged high inflation, supply chain disruptions, climate change and traditional and non-traditional global security challenges that have a profound impact on the economic recovery and sustainable development efforts of countries.
In addition, new development trends of the era, especially digital transformation, green transformation and the outstanding development of technology and artificial intelligence, are also opening up development and cooperation prospects for emerging economies, including Vietnam.
This year's BRICS Summit includes a plenary session with the theme "BRICS and the Global South: Building a Better World Together". The above theme affirms the focus and priority of the Summit is to strengthen cooperation and coordination between BRICS and developing countries to join hands to build a better world for all people.
Accordingly, the leaders will focus on discussing solutions to promote economic growth and strengthen economic connectivity between BRICS with countries in the southern hemisphere, strengthen cooperation in responding to global challenges, promote new growth drivers such as digital economy, green economy, circular economy, science and technology, innovation, build a balanced, effective, inclusive global governance ecosystem, promote the role and voice of developing countries. It can be said that the goal and focus throughout the Conference is to strengthen cooperation for a better future.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's working trip to attend the expanded BRICS Summit is an important step in implementing Vietnam's consistent foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, diversification of foreign relations, being a friend, a reliable partner, an active and responsible member of the international community as well as the policy of promoting and elevating multilateral diplomacy. The Prime Minister's working trip has many important meanings.
With the new-age diplomacy mindset of increasing contributions and making every effort for cooperation, development and common prosperity, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation will actively participate and make responsible contributions at the BRICS Summit.
