In preparation for the 7th Session of the 15th National Assembly, on the afternoon of May 12, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and National Assembly deputies of Can Tho city met with voters of O Mon district, Can Tho city to announce the session agenda; listen, record, answer and send to relevant levels and agencies to handle voters' opinions and recommendations.

Also attending the meeting were representatives of the leaders of Can Tho city and O Mon district; religious dignitaries and officials, and a large number of voters of O Mon district and Can Tho city.
Informing voters of Can Tho city about the content and program of the 7th Session of the 15th National Assembly, the representative of the Can Tho City National Assembly Delegation said that in the first 4 months of 2024, the Can Tho City National Assembly Delegation has performed well its role, functions and tasks, contributing to the work of the National Assembly; and performed well the task of representing Can Tho voters at the National Assembly.
In particular, the Can Tho National Assembly Delegation has made many contributions to law making; conducted supervisions on the implementation of legal policies on environmental protection, management and treatment of wastewater and waste in the locality; surveyed the implementation of infrastructure development projects in the area; participated in the National Assembly Standing Committee's survey delegations on ensuring traffic safety and order, the Law on Notarization in the area; and at the same time received and handled dozens of complaints, denunciations and recommendations from citizens of the city.

At the conference, voters of O Mon district raised many opinions and recommendations on specific issues affecting the lives and production of people in O Mon district in particular and Can Tho city and the Mekong Delta region in general. In particular, voters of O Mon district proposed solutions to treat wastewater and waste to protect the environment; prevent drought and saltwater intrusion; invest in building traffic routes; especially on the implementation of the Lot B - O Mon gas and electricity project chain, O Mon Power Center.
After the leaders of Can Tho City People's Committee explained and accepted the opinions and recommendations of voters under their authority, spoke at the meeting; informed voters of O Mon district about the socio-economic situation, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that recently, the world situation continued to develop rapidly, complicatedly and unpredictably; domestically, opportunities, advantages and difficulties and challenges were intertwined, but difficulties and challenges were greater.
In the first 4 months of 2024, the Government and the Prime Minister focused on directing ministries, branches and localities to resolutely and synchronously implement the Resolution of the 13th National Congress, resolutions and conclusions of the Central Committee, Politburo, National Assembly and Government; focusing on all 6 main areas, achieving encouraging results.
In particular, the socio-economic situation in the first 4 months of 2024 achieved better results than the same period in 2023 in most areas. The macro economy is basically stable and continues to recover positively, inflation is controlled, and major balances of the economy are ensured. The consumer price index (CPI) increased by 0.07% compared to the previous month, the average of 04 months increased by 3.93% over the same period. State budget revenue in 04 months is estimated at 43.1% of the yearly estimate and increased by 10.1% over the same period. Disbursement of public investment and infrastructure projects is promoted, with many expressway projects being started and inaugurated.

Total import and export turnover reached nearly 239 billion USD, up 15.2% over the same period last year, with a trade surplus of 8.4 billion USD; total registered foreign direct investment (FDI) reached nearly 9.3 billion USD, up 4.5% and realized FDI capital was estimated at 6.3 billion USD, up 7.4% over the same period. Many large global technology enterprises wish to cooperate in large-scale investment in Vietnam's electronics, semiconductor, renewable energy industries... Many international organizations continue to positively assess and forecast optimistically about Vietnam's economic growth in 2024.
The Prime Minister emphasized that these results were achieved thanks to the close leadership and direction of the Central Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, headed by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong; the close and active coordination of the National Assembly and agencies in the political system; the participation and support of the people and businesses; and the cooperation and assistance of international friends.
Pointing out the shortcomings, limitations, difficulties, challenges; causes and lessons learned, the Prime Minister said that in the coming time, the Government will focus on 9 groups of key tasks and solutions for socio-economic development.
In particular, continue to prioritize promoting growth associated with maintaining macroeconomic stability, controlling inflation, ensuring major balances; ensuring harmony between exchange rates and interest rates; striving to increase revenue, save expenditure; renew traditional growth drivers and promote new growth drivers; promote disbursement of public investment capital, 3 national target programs, speed up the progress of key infrastructure projects, especially expressway projects; focus on strongly developing industries, sectors of industry, agriculture and services; develop healthy, safe and effective stock, bond, real estate, gold markets...
Along with that, focus on the fields of culture, society, environmental protection; ensure social security; promote the prevention and fight against corruption and negativity; focus on perfecting institutions, laws, reforming administrative procedures; promoting national digital transformation, green transformation; strengthening and consolidating national defense and security; ensuring social order and safety; suppressing crimes; preventing fires and forest fires; promoting foreign affairs, international integration; enhancing information and communication, creating social consensus...
For Can Tho city, the Prime Minister suggested continuing to thoroughly grasp and concretize Resolution 13 of the Politburo and synchronously and effectively deploy the planning of the Mekong Delta region and the planning of Can Tho city; focusing on implementing "one focus, two strengthening, three promoting".
In particular, "one focus" is to mobilize and effectively use all resources; promote traditional growth drivers and break into new growth drivers in a potential city like Can Tho.
"Two enhancements" include: Increasing investment, developing human factors; enhancing regional, area, domestic and international connectivity, especially in terms of economy, production and consumption through connecting transportation systems, production and supply systems according to value chains.
The "three pushes" are: promoting the development of a synchronous, comprehensive, and inclusive strategic infrastructure system; promoting industrial development; promoting the application of science and technology and innovation.
The Prime Minister said that as a National Assembly delegate of Can Tho city, he always strives to fulfill his responsibilities; always stays close to and listens to the opinions and aspirations of comrades, compatriots, voters, and the opinions of the Can Tho Party leaders; hopes that voters will try their best to contribute to the development and prosperity of Can Tho city in particular and the whole country in general.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh acknowledged and thanked voters for attending the meeting and having many good, dedicated, responsible, and practical opinions; saying that these are also issues that government leaders, ministries, branches, localities, and people are concerned about; there needs to be solutions to achieve specific, "measurable, and quantifiable" results.
Regarding the concerns of voter Ly Van Dung in Chau Van Liem ward, O Mon district about the Block B - O Mon gas pipeline project, the Prime Minister said that the project has been approved in principle for investment to adjust the project by the end of 2023. The project investor is speeding up the implementation progress, especially the site clearance work. Currently, the Can Tho City Land Fund Development Center is coordinating with the investor in compensation, support and resettlement to implement the project according to regulations.
The Prime Minister added that after a difficult period, the Government has directed strongly to remove difficulties and obstacles. Up to now, projects in the Lot B - O Mon gas and electricity project chain with a total capital of up to 12 billion USD such as Plants I, II, III, IV, O Mon Thermal Power Center... are being restarted, many projects will soon come into operation in the near future.
Discussing the O Mon - Giong Rieng inter-regional road project, connecting Kien Giang - Can Tho - Dong Thap to develop the local socio-economy of voter Luu Minh Hung, Thoi Hoa ward, the Prime Minister affirmed that investment in infrastructure, including transport infrastructure, is one of the three strategic breakthroughs identified by the 13th National Party Congress and is being focused on by the Government, all levels and sectors.
The Mekong Delta is one of the regions that receives special attention. In recent times, many highways, ports, airports, large bridges, etc. in the Mekong Delta have been invested in; in the coming time, the Government will continue to pay attention to developing the transport infrastructure in the Mekong Delta, including the O Mon - Giong Rieng inter-regional road project.
Regarding the opinion of voter Le Thi Tu Tran, Thoi Hoa ward on the treatment of domestic solid waste, the Prime Minister said that this is a big problem and a common problem of the whole country. The Prime Minister has directed ministries, branches, provinces and cities to implement synchronous solutions; mobilize all social resources for treatment; hope that people will participate, in the immediate future to preserve and protect the environment, for a bright, green, clean, beautiful city and for the life of each citizen.
Regarding the opinion of voter Nguyen Phan Thinh, a voter of Thoi Hoa ward on synchronous and effective disarmament to proactively prevent drought and saltwater intrusion for the Mekong Delta provinces, including Can Tho city, the Prime Minister said that the Party, State, National Assembly, and Government pay great attention to the work of preventing and combating drought and saltwater intrusion for the Mekong Delta and invest in this work. In 2023, the Government has allocated more than 4,000 billion for drought and saltwater intrusion prevention in the Mekong Delta...
The Prime Minister said that due to the country's conditions, it is not possible to immediately solve all problems, so he has directed the establishment of a comprehensive project on drought, salinity and subsidence prevention in the Mekong Delta; hoping that people will support and participate.
