At the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to promoting mutually beneficial cooperation with the GCC and GCC member states.
According to a special correspondent of the Vietnam News Agency, on the occasion of attending the 55th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF), on the morning of January 21 (local time), in Davos (Switzerland), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Mr. Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi.
At the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to promoting mutually beneficial cooperation with the GCC and GCC member states.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh shared his good impressions during his visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia and Qatar in October 2024; announcing that during the trip, Vietnam and these countries created new frameworks to deepen and substantiate their relations, especially the establishment of the Comprehensive Partnership framework and the signing of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) with the UAE.
The GCC Secretary General expressed his honor to meet Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; affirmed that Vietnam is on the priority list for signing FTAs of the GCC, believes that the Vietnam-GCC cooperation is a win-win, mutually beneficial relationship, bringing benefits to both sides; expressed his belief that the trade cooperation between the two countries will soon have breakthrough results.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh asked the GCC Secretariat to continue supporting and assisting Vietnam in deepening multifaceted cooperation with GCC member countries; encourage regional enterprises and investment funds to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam, promote negotiations on the GCC-Vietnam FTA and the GCC-Vietnam Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement, share experiences and assist Vietnam in building an international financial center.
The two sides agreed to organize activities to enhance understanding between the GCC and Vietnam, contributing to the GCC countries' better understanding of Vietnam's potential and also for the Vietnamese side to exchange and meet with experts, development banks, and investment funds of the GCC.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh invited Mr. Jasem Albudaiwi to visit Vietnam at a suitable time in 2025. Mr. Jasem Albudaiwi happily accepted the invitation and affirmed that he would soon visit Vietnam to discuss measures to promote GCC-Vietnam cooperation, including exploiting the Memorandum of Understanding between the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the GCC Secretariat./.
