On the afternoon of December 30, at the Government Headquarters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Deputy Prime Minister of the Lao People's Democratic Republic Saleumxay Kommasith on the occasion of his working visit to Vietnam.
At the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh welcomed Deputy Prime Minister Saleumxay Kommasith to visit Vietnam to carefully prepare for the upcoming 47th Meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Intergovernmental Committee; emphasized that the two sides regularly exchange high-level delegations and all levels, demonstrating the unique closeness between the two countries; and believed that the Deputy Prime Minister's visit would achieve good results, contributing positively to strengthening the great relationship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh warmly congratulated Laos on its important achievements in maintaining socio-political stability and national defense and security, economic development, and successfully assuming the role of ASEAN Chair and AIPA 2024; affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to and gives the highest priority to the great Vietnam-Laos relationship; and respectfully conveyed the greetings of General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong, and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man to the senior leaders of Laos.
Lao Deputy Prime Minister Saleumxay Kommasith thanked Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh for receiving and showing his warm feelings towards the delegation; sincerely thanked Vietnam for its sincere feelings and valuable, selfless and pure support and assistance to Laos during the past struggle for national liberation, as well as in the current cause of national protection and development; emphasized that in the process of building an independent and self-reliant economy, Laos always cooperates closely with Vietnam.

Other key areas of cooperation such as defense, security, economy, culture, education and training, and cooperation between localities of the two countries have all been promoted and have new developments.
These achievements stem from the efforts and close coordination between ministries, departments and branches at the central and local levels of the two countries to realize high-level commitments and agreements, especially the results of the meeting between the two Politburoes in September 2024 and the phone call between the two General Secretaries in December 2024.
Agreeing to actively coordinate and best prepare for the 47th Meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee of the two countries, determined to achieve greater results in 2025, the two sides pay special attention and agree to continue to create breakthroughs in economic, trade and investment cooperation.
The Lao Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that he will continue to urge ministries and sectors to improve the investment environment, creating more favorable conditions for foreign enterprises, including Vietnamese enterprises, to invest and do business in Laos, especially in strategic areas such as infrastructure, transport connectivity, energy, etc.; wishing to promote economic connectivity between the two economies, cooperate to improve the legal system to increase connectivity, for the benefit of the people of the two countries.
Deputy Prime Minister Saleumxay Kommasith expressed his interest in and wanted to learn more about the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) cooperation model; he hoped that Vietnam would share its experience in exploiting its potential strengths for development and towards establishing a Laos-Vietnam Industrial Park.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated the efforts of both sides to launch a number of key projects in recent times as well as to cooperate in finding new directions and new ways of cooperation in the spirit of determination to bring the bilateral cooperation into a new stage of development, more substantial and effective; at the same time, he affirmed that he will always pay attention to and promote relevant agencies of Vietnam to closely coordinate with the Lao side.
On the occasion of the New Year, Lao Deputy Prime Minister Saleumxay Kommasith respectfully conveyed the congratulations of General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith, Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, and National Assembly Chairman Saysomphone Phomvihane to the Vietnamese high-ranking leaders./.
