The Prime Minister asked Cambodia to pay attention to resolving the issue of legal status so that people of Vietnamese origin in Cambodia can stabilize their lives and contribute to the development of Cambodia and the friendly relations between the two countries.

On February 25, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh cordially received Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Prak Sokhonn on the occasion of attending the second ASEAN Future Forum (AFF2) in Hanoi.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh congratulated Cambodia on the great and proud achievements and believed that under the wise reign of King Norodom Sihamoni, the leadership of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) led by President Hun Sen and the Government headed by Prime Minister Hun Manet, Cambodia will continue to be more successful in national construction and development.

The Prime Minister highly appreciated and emphasized that the participation of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Prak Sokhonn contributed significantly to the success of the forum, while demonstrating Cambodia's support for Vietnam, contributing to further tightening the friendly relations between the two countries.

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Prak Sokhonn thanked Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh for taking the time to receive him, and conveyed the regards and best wishes of CPP President Hun Sen and Prime Minister Hun Manet to the Vietnamese leaders in successfully organizing the recent High-level Meeting between the two Parties and the Meeting between the three Heads of the three Parties.

The Deputy Prime Minister congratulated Vietnam on successfully organizing the second Forum, contributing to enhancing Vietnam's role and position in the region and the world; affirmed that he and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam will co-chair the 21st Meeting of the Vietnam-Cambodia Joint Committee in Cambodia in 2025 to discuss measures to promote cooperation between the two countries.

The two sides were pleased to see that the Vietnam-Cambodia relationship has been continuously consolidated and developed more comprehensively. The recent high-level meeting between the two parties and three parties was a great success, marking a new milestone for the Vietnam-Cambodia and Vietnam-Cambodia-Laos relations in a new stage of development. The three countries reached a common understanding on consolidating solidarity, closeness, and friendship, and the importance of promoting to the younger generation the historical value of the Vietnam-Cambodia and Vietnam-Cambodia-Laos relations.

In order to effectively implement the high-level agreements of the two Parties and two countries, the two sides agreed to continue to promote comprehensive cooperation in all fields; focusing on enhancing connectivity, especially infrastructure connectivity, road, rail, sea transport, etc., thereby increasing cohesion, trust, and people-to-people exchange; as well as enhancing cooperation in managing and protecting the peaceful, stable, friendly, cooperative and developing land and sea borders. In addition, the two sides are interested in resolving institutional difficulties and obstacles to promote trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that the two sides coordinate to find reasonable measures to resolve the 16% of unfinished border demarcation and marker planting and build a peaceful, stable and sustainably developed border between the two countries.

The Prime Minister also asked the Cambodian side to pay attention to resolving the issue of legal status so that people of Vietnamese origin in Cambodia can stabilize their lives, contributing to the prosperous development of Cambodia and the friendly relations between the two countries./.
