
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated the role of IFAD and its effective cooperation in recent times in Vietnam's socio -economic development, especially in the agricultural sector; emphasizing that Vietnam pays special attention to developing green and sustainable agriculture.
The Prime Minister asked IFAD to increase preferential loans and promote non-refundable aid for projects applying science and technology in agriculture , promote low-emission agriculture, support farmers in mechanizing production, invest in organic agricultural production lines, increase labor productivity and the value of agricultural products in the domestic and export markets.
In particular, the Prime Minister asked IFAD, together with other partners, to support Vietnam in successfully implementing the project of planting 1 million hectares of low-emission rice, promoting the development of carbon markets, and supporting farmers in remote areas.

IFAD Vice President Donal Brown affirmed that IFAD has always been a good friend of Vietnam and expressed his impression of the results Vietnam has achieved in economic and social development. Mr. Donal Brown welcomed Vietnam's strong steps to streamline the apparatus and reform the administration, thereby also creating favorable conditions for the activities of international partners in Vietnam.
The IFAD Vice President also highly appreciated Vietnam's social development policies, especially efforts to support ethnic minorities and ensure gender equality. The IFAD Vice President welcomed the effective cooperation between IFAD and Vietnam, saying that IFAD's priorities are completely in line with Vietnam's socio-economic development strategy.
The IFAD Vice President affirmed that he will continue to closely cooperate with Vietnamese ministries, sectors and localities in sharing information and experience in applying technology in agriculture, promoting South-South cooperation and public-private partnerships.
In addition to lending capital, the IFAD Vice President affirmed that IFAD will continue to promote financial institutions and international partners to provide non-refundable aid in the field of sustainable agriculture, support farmers, build early warning capacity, respond and adapt to climate change, and green growth.
