* Here, presenting gifts and talking to people with meritorious services and relatives of martyrs in Dai Tu district, Thai Nguyen province; in the infinite sorrow of comrades and compatriots nationwide at the passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that "When drinking water, remember its source", "When eating fruit, remember the person who planted the tree" are good and precious traditions, nurtured and cultivated by many generations of Vietnamese people throughout thousands of years of history of the nation.
The Prime Minister said that our country had to go through fierce and fierce wars to gain national independence, unify the country and protect the borders of the Fatherland. During those difficult years, with the spirit of "Determined to die for the Fatherland", "Nothing is more precious than independence and freedom", generations of young people volunteered to go to the battlefield, leaving behind old mothers, young wives and young children in the rear. Many people never returned, their flesh and blood merged with the mountains and rivers. Some were lucky enough to return home but left part of their bodies on the battlefield or were affected by Agent Orange.
According to the Prime Minister, the war has ended, the country has become independent and unified; but there are still many pains, many wounds that still ache day and night. Understanding and sharing those pains, over the past 77 years, our Party and State have always paid special attention, cared for and had many preferential policies for wounded soldiers, relatives of martyrs, families of policy beneficiaries, and people with meritorious services to the revolution, considering this an important and regular political task.
The lives of people with meritorious services and their families have been constantly improved in both material and spiritual terms. The movement “All people take care of families of war invalids, martyrs and people with meritorious services to the revolution”, the “Repaying gratitude” and “Comradely affection” funds have been increasingly developed. The construction, upgrading and renovation of martyrs’ graves, martyrs’ cemeteries and works to honor martyrs have received investment attention; the work of searching for, collecting and identifying martyrs’ remains has been actively and effectively implemented…
The Prime Minister praised Thai Nguyen province and Dai Tu district, despite many difficulties, for their efforts to ensure policies and regimes for war invalids, families of martyrs and people with revolutionary contributions; he was especially moved to know that many veterans, war invalids, sick soldiers and relatives of martyrs have made efforts to overcome pain and loss, overcome illness, rise up in life, and set an example in work, labor and study; and have been proactive, creative and continued to contribute to their homeland and country.
The Head of Government emphasized that you are not only heroes in combat, but also pioneers in studying, working and producing, making important contributions to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland; you are truly shining examples for the younger generations to be proud of, learn from and follow.
According to the Prime Minister, although the Party, State and people always care and look after them with respect, deep gratitude and the highest responsibility, the lives of a number of war invalids, martyrs' relatives and families of people with revolutionary contributions are still difficult. The Prime Minister requested all levels, sectors and localities, including Thai Nguyen province, to continue promoting the tradition of "When drinking water, remember its source", thoroughly grasp and effectively implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, the Directive of the Secretariat on continuing to strengthen the Party's leadership over the work of people with revolutionary contributions, and the Ordinance on preferential treatment for people with revolutionary contributions.
In particular, continue to improve and implement well policies and laws for people with meritorious services, ensuring that people with meritorious services and their families have a living standard of average or higher in the area with the spirit that no person with meritorious services will not enjoy preferential policies; continue to research and implement the increase of social allowances and preferential allowances appropriately; strengthen the attraction of social resources, promote the movement of "repaying gratitude"; contribute to compensating for the disadvantages of people with meritorious services and families with meritorious services to the revolution.
The Prime Minister hopes that war invalids, sick soldiers, martyrs' relatives, and people with revolutionary contributions nationwide and Dai Tu district, Thai Nguyen province in particular, will continue to promote the tradition and good qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", forever be shining examples, actively participating in building the homeland and the country to become more and more prosperous.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that with deep responsibility and sentiment, the Government and the Prime Minister will continue to care for and look after the material and spiritual life of people with meritorious services to become more and more complete and better; he requested Thai Nguyen province in general and Dai Tu district in particular to continue to make efforts to overcome difficulties, overcome challenges, do better in caring for and implementing preferential policies for people with meritorious services, and further improve the lives of people with meritorious services in the area.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister requested localities, agencies and units to call on each organization and individual to take specific and practical actions with a high sense of responsibility to be proactive and creative in implementing more practical activities, considering this a duty, responsibility and also a sentiment to express deep gratitude to those who have devoted and sacrificed for the cause of national liberation, national reunification and firmly protecting our socialist Vietnamese Fatherland.
* In the afternoon of the same day, the Prime Minister and the delegation offered incense to commemorate the heroic martyrs and visited the National Historical Site of Company 915, Team 91 Bac Thai, in Thai Nguyen city - the memorial place for 60 Youth Volunteer martyrs who sacrificed their lives while on duty on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1972.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the delegation visited the exhibition booth, introducing the "Fire of Company 915" in the cause of national liberation struggle and the heroic epic that will forever resonate for today's and future generations.
In December 1972, the resistance war against the US imperialists went through glorious days. Faced with the urgent need to clear nearly 20,000 tons of food and defense goods that were still in the center of Thai Nguyen city to avoid being destroyed by US bombers, the youth volunteers of Company 915 did not hesitate to face difficulties and hardships and volunteered to carry out the mission.
On December 24, 1972, American planes bombed and killed 60 cadres and members of the Youth Volunteers of Company 915 and Team 91 of Bac Thai. Their sacrifices have enhanced the tradition of the Vietnamese Youth Volunteers, with the spirit of “living on the road and dying with unyielding fortitude”; becoming an immortal epic, shining examples of revolutionary heroism, an indomitable epic of the Vietnamese people.
