According to VNA special correspondent, at noon on January 17 (local time), at the headquarters of the Polish Parliament , Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had a meeting with Speaker of the Polish House of Representatives Szymon Holownia.
At the meeting, Speaker of the House of Representatives Szymon Holownia said that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's visit is an important milestone in Vietnam - Poland relations in the context that this year the two countries celebrate the 75th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations (1950-2025).
The Speaker of the Polish House of Representatives highlighted the positive and substantive developments in the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries, especially the achievements in political-diplomatic, economic, educational-training, cultural-tourism cooperation in recent times. He expressed Poland's desire to strengthen relations with Vietnam at the highest possible level, especially in the context of unpredictable developments in the world, putting countries in front of many challenges.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh thanked the warm and respectful reception that Speaker of the House of Representatives Szymon Holownia and the deputies gave to the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation; affirmed that the purpose of the visit was to strongly promote the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries in all fields, and further tighten the friendship between the two peoples of Vietnam and Poland.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh respectfully conveyed the greetings of high-ranking Vietnamese leaders, including National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, to Speaker of the House of Representatives Szymon Holownia and thanked the Polish Parliament for establishing the Poland-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians' Association with the participation of many parliamentarians, demonstrating the affection of the Polish people for Vietnam.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Vietnam always remembers Poland's sincere support in the past struggle for national liberation, as well as in Vietnam's current national development with medical and educational projects that are still present and have promoted their value in Vietnam. The Prime Minister emphasized: "This is the core value, the foundation, the unchanging reality of the friendly relations between the two countries over the past 75 years."
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated the positive developments in many areas in the relationship between the two countries, the dynamic development in cooperation between the two National Assemblies in recent times; emphasized the importance of the European Union (EU) - Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) for economic cooperation between the two countries, proposed that the Polish House of Representatives soon ratify this agreement as well as support the European Commission (EC) to soon remove the IUU yellow card for Vietnam's seafood exports.
The two sides agreed to increase the exchange of delegations at all levels, especially at high levels, through the channels of the Party, State, Government, National Assembly and people-to-people exchanges; promote cooperation between the National Assembly's specialized committees as well as promote the bridging role of the Friendship Parliamentarians' Groups of the two countries; and closely coordinate at inter-regional and international parliamentary forums. On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh conveyed the invitation to visit Vietnam from National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man to Speaker of the House of Representatives Szymon Holownia.
Emphasizing the importance of the trade and investment cooperation pillar in the bilateral relationship, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Speaker of the House of Representatives Szymon Holownia agreed to promote cooperation in this pillar commensurate with the good political and cultural relations between the two countries and agreed to strive to increase trade turnover to 5 billion USD.
Agreeing with the proposals of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Speaker of the House of Representatives Szymon Holownia affirmed that the Polish House of Representatives will soon ratify EVIPA as well as support the EC to soon remove the IUU yellow card for Vietnamese seafood exports.
The two sides agreed to continue to closely coordinate and support each other at multilateral forums and international organizations, especially the United Nations and ASEAN-EU. Speaker of the House of Representatives Szymon Holownia hopes to soon join the ASEAN Treaty of Amity and Cooperation.
On security issues, including the East Sea, the two sides emphasized the need to resolve disputes by peaceful means, including diplomatic and legal processes in accordance with international law, especially the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS 1982).
Speaker of the House of Representatives Szymon Holownia highly appreciated the Vietnamese community in Poland, a community with high prestige, diligence, and hard work, making important contributions to Poland and serving as a bridge connecting the two nations. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh thanked and hoped that the Polish House of Representatives would support the early consideration of the community as an ethnic minority in Poland.
