Also attending were comrade Do Van Chien, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; leaders and former leaders of ministries, central agencies and Dien Bien province, Dien Bien soldiers, youth volunteers, frontline laborers who directly participated in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign and representatives of the family of the late Prime Minister Pham Van Dong.

The Dien Bien Phu Battlefield historical site has been ranked as a special national monument by the Prime Minister, one of the first 10 especially important national monuments ranked in the country.

Currently, the Dien Bien Phu Special National Monument has a total of 45 component relic sites, which have great value, are unique in the world, and have special value and role, not only for Vietnam but also have great historical value and significance for peace-loving people and progressive forces in the world.

The Him Lam Resistance Center is located in the central area of ​​the Dien Bien Phu stronghold, 2.5 km northeast of General De Castries' command post and is known as the "steel door" of the stronghold. During the Dien Bien Phu campaign, the artillery attack on the Him Lam stronghold opening the campaign on March 13, 1954 was a very important event. In this battle, Heroic Martyr Phan Dinh Giot used his body to cover the enemy's loopholes so that his comrades could charge forward and attack to win.

Phase II of the project to preserve and restore the Him Lam Resistance Center Relic Site includes main items such as a 45m long relief; incense offering house, incense offering yard, square yard, parking lot, tree system, flower garden... The project has a total investment of more than 90 billion VND from the central, local and socialized budgets.

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the historic Dien Bien Phu Victory, Dien Bien province adjusted the starting and ending points of 6 routes and named 39 routes, including Pham Van Dong route.

Late Prime Minister Pham Van Dong (1906-2000) was an excellent student, a trusted and close comrade of President Ho Chi Minh, a staunch proletarian revolutionary soldier; one of the key leaders and predecessors of the Vietnamese revolution; with great contributions to the cause of national liberation, construction and defense of the Fatherland.

Throughout his life with 75 years of continuous revolutionary activities, 41 years as a member of the Party Central Committee, 35 years as a member of the Politburo, 32 years as Prime Minister, 10 years as an Advisor to the Party Central Committee, comrade Pham Van Dong made many great contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation. In 1953, comrade Pham Van Dong, as a member of the Politburo and Deputy Prime Minister, was one of the leaders present at the Politburo meeting on December 6, 1953 to discuss and decide to launch the Dien Bien Phu campaign, with the determination to destroy this stronghold group at all costs. Afterwards, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Van Dong was assigned as Chairman of the Central Front Supply Council, responsible for mobilizing and ensuring logistics for the Campaign.

The street named after the late Prime Minister Pham Van Dong is a vital traffic route connecting the two wards of Muong Thanh and Thanh Truong of Dien Bien Phu city across the historic Nam Rom river.

24 streets named after Heroes who were awarded titles in the historic Dien Bien Phu Campaign include: Phung Van Khau Street, Hoang Dang Vinh Street, Hoang Van No Street, Luu Viet Thoang Street, Nguyen Phu Xuyen Khung Street, Ta Quoc Luat Street, Nguyen Ngoc Bao Street, Bui Dinh Cu Street, Nguyen Van Ty Street, Duong Quang Chau Street, Hoang Khac Duoc Street, Phan Tu Street, Nguyen Van Bach Street, Tran Van Cam Street, Dang Dinh Ho Street, Tran Dinh Hung Street, Lam Viet Huu Street, Chu Van Kham Street, Ha Van Noa Street, Dang Duc Song Street, Nguyen Van Thuan Street, Loc Van Trong Street, Le Van Dy Street, Trinh Van Huyen Street.

A street named after a pre-revolt cadre of Dien Bien is Nguyen Ba Lac Street.

A road named after a local noun with typical meaning and a typical place name of the country is Hoa Binh Road.

Two roads are named after historical revolutionary and resistance sites of the province, including Muong Phang Road and Muong Then Road.

A road named after typical events that had a significant impact on the formation and development of Dien Bien province is Quyet Tien Road.

Currently, Dien Bien Phu city has a natural area of ​​nearly 309km2, 12 administrative units, including more than 24km2 of inner city and more than 284km2 of suburban communes; the total population of the city is about 81,690 people.
