The historical and scenic relics of Hoan Kiem Lake and Ngoc Son Temple were ranked as special national relics by the Prime Minister in 2013. Hoan Kiem Lake, also known as Sword Lake - a vestige of an ancient stretch of the Nhi Ha River, is a famous scenic spot of the capital. The lake's name is associated with the legend of King Le Loi returning the precious sword after defeating foreign invaders.

Ngoc Son Temple is not only a religious relic, but was once also the place where the Huong Thien Association, an organization that gathered many patriotic Confucian scholars, such as Nguyen Van Sieu (1799 - 1870), Vu Tong Phan (1800 - 1851) to propagate and educate the masses about goodness, and to organize the printing of many types of books, such as medical books, Taoist scriptures, books on beliefs, etc.

Talking and inquiring about the study and living situation of students of the two countries, the two Prime Ministers hoped that students in particular and the young generation of Vietnam and Laos in general would strive to study, train and establish themselves; comprehensively develop their morality, intelligence, physique and aesthetics; realize their dreams and ambitions and those of their families; fulfill their social responsibilities and the task of building and defending the Fatherland of each country; and contribute to the successful implementation of the tasks determined by the Party, State and people of the two countries.

In particular, students and youth of the two countries must preserve and promote national identity; unite, love and help each other because "helping friends is helping yourself", together preserve and continue to write golden pages for the strong brotherhood, the great neighborly friendship, special and rare solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.

Cooperation in education and training is identified by the two Parties and two States as an important task and a strategic cooperation field in the long-standing friendship and close relationship between Vietnam and Laos.

In the period 2011 - 2021, Vietnam has received nearly 30,000 Lao students studying under agreements and non-agreements with different occupational structures and training levels. In the opposite direction, since 1982, the Lao Government has also trained a total of nearly 5,000 Vietnamese officials and students studying at the National University of Laos.

During their studies, international students from both countries are always cared for by educational institutions, creating all material and spiritual conditions to ensure convenience in eating, staying, studying and living.
