At the invitation of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Vladimirovich Mishustin paid an official visit to Vietnam on January 14 and 15. This is Mr. Mikhail Vladimirovich Mishustin's first official visit to Vietnam as Russian Prime Minister. The visit was also the first time Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Vladimirovich Mishustin met as heads of government. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh invited Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin to review the honor guard of the Vietnam People's Army. Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Vladimirovich Mishustin visited Vietnam in the first weeks of the new year 2025, showing Russia's importance to Russia-Vietnam relations. The trip is even more meaningful as it takes place exactly in the year the two countries celebrate the 75th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations on January 30. The two sides discussed urgent issues of Vietnam-Russia cooperation in the fields of trade, economy, culture and humanitarian affairs. The two sides paid special attention to implementing joint projects in the fields of energy, transport, industry, agriculture and other fields. Since 2001, relations between Russia and Vietnam have reached a strategic status, and since 2012 have been upgraded to a comprehensive strategic partnership. The two countries interact in many areas such as trade, economy, science and technology, humanitarian affairs, defense and security. The key factor in developing Russia-Vietnam relations is regular political dialogue at the highest level. The two countries also interact closely in the field of education. Every year, Vietnamese citizens are granted 1,000 scholarships in Russia from the federal budget. A promising cooperation project has been implemented between Russian and Vietnamese universities.
