On the morning of December 2, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his delegation attended the Logistics Forum organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade in coordination with the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, with the theme "Free Trade Zone - Breakthrough Solution to Promote Logistics Growth". Mr. Pham Viet Thanh - Secretary of the Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Party Committee commented that the locality is a place with a strategic location, along with many favorable conditions and a transportation network that is being invested in and developed strongly. This is favorable for developing a national and international logistics center according to the model of "green port, green logistics" to meet the requirements of international integration and sustainable development. And the formation of a free trade zone associated with a seaport in the Cai Mep - Thi Vai area is a strategic step to complete the logistics infrastructure of the Southeast region. Speaking at the Forum, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh commented that the logistics industry has developed a lot in recent times, but is not yet commensurate with its stature, and still has many limitations. "Management is still weak in quantity and quality; warehouses and dry ports are limited in quantity, scale and quality... These limitations lead to high logistics costs," the Prime Minister stated. To develop in the coming time, the Prime Minister said that the logistics industry needs to set 3 goals for development in the coming time. That is, it is necessary to reduce costs in the country's GDP from 18% to 15%. Increase the scale of logistics in GDP from 10% to 15%, striving for 20%; the scale in the world from 0.4% to 0.5%, striving for 0.6%. The growth rate of our logistics industry is 14-15%, so it needs to be increased to 20%. And to achieve the set goals, the logistics industry needs to implement 7 solutions. That is, it is necessary to raise awareness and understand more deeply the role of the industry in the country's economic development. Institutional breakthroughs are needed to develop the logistics industry, contributing to the country's double-digit growth in the coming years. It is necessary to focus on building a smooth logistics infrastructure to reduce costs, increase product competitiveness, especially investing in the development of aviation, railways, and highways. In addition, it is necessary to build smart governance and train high-quality human resources suitable for new developments. It is necessary to focus on promoting logistics diplomacy and promoting the modernization of domestic logistics. It is necessary to move towards building and developing a free trade nation. It is also necessary to closely connect transportation modes, connect with world free trade zones, and connect internationally. In this process, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province must be proactive in development, proactive in taking the lead in developing the logistics industry, along with the task of building an offshore wind power center and renewable energy in the coming time.
