On the afternoon of October 28 (local time), the Vietnam - United Arab Emirates (UAE) Business Dialogue: Digital transformation, green transformation and innovation, exploring investment cooperation opportunities was held with the participation of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and officials of the two countries, along with about 200 UAE and Vietnamese businesses.
Many UAE businesses interested in investing in Vietnam
Mr. Abdul-Aziz Abdulla Al Ghurair, Chairman of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce, said that in May this year, a UAE business delegation visited Vietnam very successfully with 180 meetings between Vietnamese and Dubai businesses.
“We consider Vietnam as one of our important partners. We have launched a Business Council in Vietnam to help connect and cooperate,” said the chairman of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Thani Bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade - Ministry of Economy of UAE, said that Vietnam is an ideal partner for UAE, has great market potential, has the fastest growth rate in ASEAN, and can support UAE in the long term in the goal of ensuring food security.
The signing of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) is expected to help increase trade and service flows and support new economies, new economic zones, and create infrastructure for cooperation in agriculture, transportation, production, logistics, energy, etc.
Informing about the results of the talks with the UAE President, the Prime Minister said that during this historic visit, two important documents were signed. These were the upgrading of the comprehensive partnership between the two countries and the signing of the CEPA Agreement.
These are two important legal documents that contribute to promoting trade, economic and investment relations, creating a favorable economic foundation for relations between the two countries.
On the basis of the very favorable relations between the two countries and the friendship between the two peoples, the Prime Minister said that the UAE is in an important strategic position in the Middle East, while Vietnam is in an important strategic position in Southeast Asia.
These are two dynamically developing areas, regional gateways, creating opportunities for bilateral investment development and we hope that businesses should not miss this opportunity.
Calling on UAE businesses to invest
Accordingly, the Prime Minister emphasized the need to promote investment cooperation in areas that create growth momentum. Including traditional drivers such as export, consumption and emerging areas such as digital transformation, green transformation, circular economy, sharing, knowledge, or artificial intelligence, cloud computing, Internet of Things, etc.
“In a short time, we can connect with each other by artificial intelligence, so we must seize the opportunity, connect people with people and connect economies with each other,” said the Prime Minister.
Sharing about Vietnam's orientation, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that Vietnam is carrying out very important tasks related to rapid and sustainable national development. That is, carrying out reforms and innovations to mobilize resources, not sacrificing social security and the environment in exchange for simple growth.
With the UAE's strengths in service development, the Prime Minister called on businesses to invest in Vietnam in the fields of finance and banking, building international financial centers in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang, building service infrastructure, connecting products in the spirit of diversifying supply chains, diversifying production, and labor cooperation.
On that basis, the Prime Minister affirmed that he would protect the legitimate interests of businesses and not criminalize economic, civil and administrative relations.
Facilitate businesses to do business in a healthy, equal and fair manner. The spirit is to listen, understand, share vision and action, work together to win and develop together.
