On the afternoon of February 18, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a conference to implement the National Assembly's Resolution on the Government's organizational structure and assign tasks to a number of Government members for the 2021-2026 term.
Previously, the 9th Extraordinary Session of the 15th National Assembly considered and decided on many urgent and important issues, including the approval of the Law on Government Organization (amended) and the decision on the organizational structure and personnel of the Government.

The Government apparatus after restructuring will reduce 4 ministries and 1 ministerial-level agency (from 18 ministries and 4 ministerial-level agencies to 14 ministries and 3 ministerial-level agencies).
The National Assembly has high confidence, approved the appointment and the President has issued a decision to appoint 2 Deputy Prime Ministers (Nguyen Chi Dung, Mai Van Chinh); four Ministers (Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh, Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung, Minister of Ethnic Minorities and Religions Dao Ngoc Dung, Minister of Agriculture and Environment Do Duc Duy).
Some other Government members continue to work as Ministers after the Ministries and agencies receive additional functions and tasks from other ministries and agencies.

Speaking at the Conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh respectfully thanked the Central Executive Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, the General Secretary, the National Assembly Chairman, the President, and the central ministries and branches for always paying attention, leading, directing, supporting, and accompanying the Government in its activities and in implementing personnel work according to the policy of streamlining and streamlining the apparatus.

The Prime Minister stated that the Government's tasks are very heavy, with a lot of work in its role as the highest State administrative agency, exercising executive power, being the executive body of the National Assembly, performing the functions, tasks and powers assigned by the Party, State and people in all fields, especially in the current context with the requirement of rapid and sustainable development, striving for GDP growth of at least 8% in 2025 and double-digit growth in the coming years.

He emphasized the spirit of solidarity, unity, clear thinking, high determination, great effort, drastic and effective action, said must be done, committed must be done, done must have specific and measurable results, each job must be done properly, each job must be completed, clearly assigning people, tasks, time, responsibilities and products.
From there, successfully complete all tasks assigned by the Party, State, country and people in 2025 and the coming time, especially implementing the GDP growth target, organizing major holidays and important anniversaries, preparing for Party Congresses at all levels and implementing the arrangement and streamlining of the apparatus.

The Prime Minister also emphasized the need to effectively implement three strategic breakthroughs in institutions, infrastructure, and human resources.

In addition, it is necessary to promote the construction of strategic infrastructure (both hard and soft infrastructure, transport infrastructure, digital infrastructure, medical, cultural, educational, social infrastructure, etc.) to reduce costs and increase the competitiveness of goods, businesses and the economy.
Training human resources, developing people to meet development requirements, building a team of cadres, civil servants and public employees who are adaptable, suitable, and effective in organizing the implementation of the Party and State's guidelines, policies and laws.

Speaking on behalf of the newly appointed members of the Government, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung respectfully thanked the Central Executive Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, the General Secretary, the National Assembly Chairman, and other Party and State leaders for their trust, introduction, approval, and appointment to the positions.
