Along with replicating the smart border gate model, Vietnam and China need to soon conduct research exchanges on the implementation model of the Cross-Border Economic Cooperation Zone.
On November 7, on the occasion of attending the 8th Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Summit, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had talks with Chinese Premier Li Qiang.
At the meeting, the two Prime Ministers conveyed sincere greetings and good friendship between General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong, and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man to General Secretary and President Xi Jinping, Chairman of the National People's Congress Zhao Leji, and Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Wang Huning.
Deploying three standard gauge railway lines
The two Prime Ministers congratulated each Party and each country on the important development achievements they have made in recent times, especially the important achievements in the socio-economic development of each country. At the same time, they expressed their joy at the good development momentum and substantive progress in the friendly and mutually beneficial cooperation between Vietnam and China.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that developing relations with China is a consistent policy, an objective requirement, a strategic choice and a top priority in Vietnam's foreign policy.
The Prime Minister highly appreciated the results and role of China in the success of the 8th Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Summit.
Regarding the direction of cooperation in the coming time, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that the two sides continue to effectively implement the common perception between the top leaders of the two Parties and two countries, maintain high-level contacts and all-level contacts to discuss bilateral relations and issues of mutual concern.
Based on the content of the cooperation agreement on three railway lines, the two sides agreed to promote early signing in the near future. The two sides will accelerate cooperation in implementing three standard gauge railways: Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong, Lang Son - Hanoi and Mong Cai - Ha Long - Hai Phong.
He also asked China to support capital, technology transfer and human resource training in implementing these projects.
At the same time, the Prime Minister hoped that China would continue to open its market to Vietnam's agricultural products and coordinate with Vietnam to set up a testing and quarantine station for Vietnamese agricultural products at the Dong Dang - Pingxiang international railway border gate.
Promote border economic cooperation zones, open agricultural product stores
At the same time, deploy cooperation in the field of electricity trading; accelerate the implementation and gradually replicate the smart border gate model to other border gate pairs. Early conduct exchanges between the research working group on the implementation model of the Cross-Border Economic Cooperation Zone.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also suggested that both sides make efforts to consolidate the social foundation of bilateral relations and successfully implement the Vietnam-China Year of Humanitarian Exchange 2025, considering this an opportunity to promote people-to-people exchanges and promote friendship, promote tourism recovery, and reach and exceed pre-COVID-19 levels.
The Prime Minister said that both sides need to pay attention to controlling disagreements at sea, not letting maritime issues affect the good friendship between the two countries.
Appreciating Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's working trip, Chinese Premier Li Qiang affirmed that with Vietnam's cooperation proposals, the Chinese Party and Government always consider relations with Vietnam a priority in its neighborly foreign policy.
He emphasized that China is willing to maintain strategic exchanges with Vietnam, further deepen substantive cooperation, and continuously deepen the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and the China-Vietnam Community of Shared Future, which has strategic significance.
Prime Minister Li Qiang affirmed that China will further open its market to high-quality Vietnamese goods, including agricultural products. They agreed to strengthen transport infrastructure connectivity, promote cooperation in building and maintaining stable supply and production chains in the region, and support Vietnam in hosting APEC 2027.
