Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited Quan Su Pagoda (Hanoi) to congratulate dignitaries and Buddhists of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha on the occasion of Buddha's 2567th birthday on the morning of June 2.

The Head of Government said that Buddha's birthday is a very meaningful religious event in the spiritual and religious life of Buddhists, and is a world cultural and religious festival recognized by the United Nations General Assembly.

As a religion of compassion, kindness and goodness, Buddhism was born for human life, happiness and peace of humanity. In practicing its teachings and life, Buddhism always upholds the spirit of the Buddha Dharma being inseparable from worldly dharma (Buddhism and life are always closely linked). This philosophy of Buddhism has existed since its introduction to Vietnam, and is the worldly thought of King Tran Nhan Tong, Tran Thai Tong, and Zen masters of the Ly - Tran dynasties, continuing to this day.

The Prime Minister affirmed that in any period of history, Buddhism has made worthy contributions to the cause of national construction and defense with the spirit of protecting the nation, pacifying the people and the motto of Dharma, Nation, and Socialism. In recent years, Buddhist activities and social activities have been closely following reality, oriented towards people, for people. Charitable, humanitarian, and social security activities have been supported by many followers, Buddhists, and people.

The Party and State consistently implement the policy of respecting and ensuring people's freedom of belief and religion; ensuring religious activities comply with the law, the charters and regulations of religions recognized by the State...

With the tradition of patriotism, attachment and companionship with the nation, the Prime Minister hopes and believes that the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha will promote the spirit of engagement in the world, taking service to sentient beings, the masses, the religion, life, the country and the people as the direction of practice. The Sangha will continue to promote the strength of great national unity, for a strong, prosperous, happy and prosperous Vietnam.

Most Venerable Thich Thien Nhon, Chairman of the Central Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, affirmed that he always accompanies the nation in times of peace and danger. In peacetime, Buddhism contributes to building and developing the country; in wartime, Buddhism contributes to protecting the Fatherland. During the Covid-19 pandemic, many monks and nuns "take off their cassocks and put on white coats". Each year, the Sangha spends more than 2,000 billion VND on social security and charity.
