Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh meets with representatives of the Vietnamese community in the UAE

Immediately after arriving in the capital Abu Dhabi to begin an official visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), on the afternoon of October 27, local time, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife met with officials, staff of the Embassy and representatives of the Vietnamese community in the 7 emirates of the UAE.

According to Vietnamese Ambassador to the UAE Nguyen Thanh Diep, the Vietnamese community in the UAE currently has more than 5,000 people, most of whom are workers in industries such as construction, tourism services, mechanics, shipbuilding, lecturers, and students; living concentrated in two major cities, Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

The people have a stable life, legal status, comply with local laws, always look towards the homeland and foster relations between the two countries; affirm the position of Vietnamese people in the host country and international friends. In the UAE, there are more and more Vietnamese enterprises such as: Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group, Vingroup, FPT...

Along with being a good bridge between the two countries, the Vietnamese Embassy in the UAE has actively built organizations and associations; organized community activities, activities towards the homeland; preserved and promoted the cultural values, history, country and people of Vietnam in the UAE; cared for, supported and promptly resolved issues related to Vietnamese people in the UAE...

Representatives of overseas Vietnamese in the UAE expressed their joy at the country's development; said that there is still much potential and room for cooperation between Vietnam and the UAE; wished to have organizations or means to connect the Vietnamese community in the region; provide more support for compatriots in handling procedures, documents, and visas; have more flexible measures to make it easier for compatriots to be granted ID cards; strictly manage labor cooperation with the UAE, avoiding unfortunate problems; promote the image of the country and people of Vietnam and have policies to attract more tourists to Vietnam; promote cooperation in education, training, science, technology with the UAE...

Speaking at the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his emotion at witnessing the strong growth of the Vietnamese community in the UAE, much different from the difficulties he faced when he worked in the UAE 10 years ago.

On behalf of General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and other Party and State leaders, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh sent his warmest regards and best wishes to the Vietnamese community in the UAE.

Delighted to feel that Vietnamese sentiments, souls, and intelligence are affirmed, shining, demonstrating the spirit of self-reliance, self-improvement, character, culture, values ​​of the Vietnamese people, the Vietnamese spirit in a foreign land; turning towards and contributing to building the country, building the host country and fostering the Vietnam - UAE relationship, the Prime Minister emphasized that overseas Vietnamese in the UAE, no matter what position or job, always have the capacity, enthusiasm, soul, sentiment, intelligence, solidarity, unity, helping each other, always turning towards the homeland, with all the national love and compatriotism.

Regarding Vietnam-UAE relations, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that after more than 30 years, the Vietnam-UAE friendship and cooperation have been developing positively in many fields such as politics, diplomacy, trade, investment, labor and tourism.

During the Prime Minister’s visit to the UAE, the two sides will upgrade bilateral relations and sign the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). This is an important foundation and condition for bilateral relations to continue to develop to new heights and favorable conditions for overseas Vietnamese in the UAE to develop further, as the highest goal of the Party, State and people of Vietnam is to become increasingly happy and prosperous.

The Prime Minister affirmed that the Party and State consider the overseas Vietnamese community an inseparable part of the Vietnamese national community; they must take care of Vietnamese people at home and abroad to have an increasingly happy and prosperous life.

Regarding the recommendations of overseas Vietnamese, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that he will direct ministries and branches to implement and promptly respond to their wishes, in the spirit of improving their material and spiritual life, role and position, and also contributing to enhancing the position and role of Vietnam in the international arena.

The Prime Minister said that he will consider and direct the early establishment of the Vietnamese Association in the UAE; build a Vietnamese Cultural Center in the UAE, thereby maintaining the Vietnamese language and writing, preserving Vietnamese culture and absorbing human civilization, in the spirit of "Internationalizing national cultural values ​​and nationalizing the quintessence of human culture".

Informing overseas Vietnamese about the domestic situation, the Prime Minister said that, having gone through many hardships due to the resistance war and prolonged embargo, rising from poverty and backwardness, Vietnam has never had the foundation, potential, position and international prestige as it does today.

Reiterating the Party’s viewpoint of bringing the country into an era of growth, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh believes that the Vietnamese community in the UAE will increasingly develop, actively integrate into the host society, continue to comply with the laws of the host country; preserve national identity and homeland; and become a solid bridge for the friendly relations between the two countries and the two peoples to develop further.
