Prime Minister attends ceremony to announce results of implementation of free trade agreements

The Ministry of Industry and Trade coordinated with the Government Office to organize a ceremony to announce the results of implementing free trade agreements in localities in 2024. The ceremony was connected online to connecting points across the country. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended and delivered a speech at the ceremony.

In order to promote international and regional economic integration, Vietnam has negotiated, signed and implemented 17 free trade agreements (FTAs) with more than 60 partners around the world. The Ministry of Industry and Trade has developed a set of indicators to assess the implementation results of FTAs, based on a survey of enterprises in provinces and cities across the country. In particular, focusing on 4 component indicators: Level of access to information about FTAs ​​by enterprises; compliance with legal regulations from FTA commitments; Effectiveness of programs and policies to support enterprises in taking advantage of FTAs;

Implementation of sustainable development commitments at the local level... Through the survey results, evaluating the 4 component indicators, Ca Mau province has the highest total score of 34.9 points; Quang Tri province has the lowest score of 14.49 points. And Ha Tinh province has 18.71 points.

Speaking at the announcement ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed: The assessment and announcement of the results of the implementation of free trade agreements is an objective and comprehensive assessment tool, helping the Government and relevant agencies measure the level of implementation and utilization of FTAs ​​by localities; Thereby, promptly identifying bottlenecks in the implementation of commitments and proposing solutions to make the direction and administration of import-export policies more effective.

The Prime Minister requested relevant ministries and localities to continue promoting administrative reforms, supporting the business community to effectively implement resources and opportunities from FTAs ​​to expand export markets, contributing to realizing the goal of substantive and effective international economic integration. Along with promoting exports, it is necessary to renew other traditional growth drivers such as investment and consumption; promote new growth drivers such as science, technology, innovation, digital transformation, green transformation, knowledge economy, circular economy, etc.
