Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to make bilateral visits to India and China to further deepen relations with the countries.

After winning a fifth term in the general election on January 7, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has formed a new government and is actively conducting diplomatic activities. On February 16, the head of the Bangladeshi government attended the Munich Security Conference in Germany. And the next destination is likely to be India, after the country elects a new government in the first week of June.

The general election to elect a new government in India will take place in seven phases from April 19 to June 1, and the results are expected to be announced on June 4. Political observers predict the possibility of incumbent Prime Minister Narendra Modi being re-elected for a third term.

Confirming that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is "definitely" visiting New Delhi, Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud "revealed" that the trip will take place after the general elections in India, although no specific date has been set yet.

In January, Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent a congratulatory letter to his counterpart Sheikh Hasina after the victory of the Awami League under her leadership in the 12th general election in Bangladesh.

Last year, the two Prime Ministers had a bilateral meeting when the Bangladeshi leader visited the neighboring country as a guest to attend the G20 Summit from September 9-10.

According to diplomatic sources, if re-elected in the upcoming general election, Mr. Modi is likely to invite the heads of governments of South Asian countries and the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) countries to attend the swearing-in ceremony.

In another development, on April 3, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina met with Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen. Here, the Ambassador affirmed Beijing's commitment to promoting more Chinese enterprises to invest in Bangladesh and strengthening bilateral relations.

Emphasizing the potential for upgrading relations, especially in the areas of trade, investment and people-to-people exchanges, Ambassador Yao Wen said that the Bangladeshi leader's visit to China in July would be an important step forward in bilateral relations.
