According to Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Truong Thanh Hoai, Vietnam's e-commerce and digital economy continue to be a bright spot in socio-economic development.

In his opening speech at the forum, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Truong Thanh Hoai said that the global economy is now in the early stages of recovery after a period of prolonged hardship. By September 2024, most international organizations were more optimistic about economic growth in 2024, forecasting global GDP growth in 2024 to reach about 3.2%. Service activities are on the rise again and are growing faster than the industrial sector.

In that context, Vietnam's e-commerce and digital economy continue to be one of the bright spots in socio-economic development. According to the report "Southeast Asia's Digital Economy 2024" published by Google - Temasek on November 5, the estimated scale of Vietnam's Internet economy reached 36 billion USD this year, up 16% over last year. Retail e-commerce continues to be a pillar, contributing 22 billion USD, up 18% over the same period and accounting for 61% of the total scale of the Internet economy.

According to the research unit, Vietnam's high growth rate is expected to continue to stabilize thanks to the manufacturing and processing sector, as well as exports. By 2030, the total market transaction value (GMV) could range from 90-200 billion USD.

In 2024 and the following years, with the above strong growth momentum, the e-commerce market and Vietnam's digital economy will develop even more strongly and become one of the driving forces for economic growth. This is also the time for us to build new models and strategies, strongly applying digital technology to increase the competitiveness and resilience of businesses and organizations in the new context.
