The Cham ethnic community in Vietnam has about 160,000 people, of which Ninh Thuan is the locality with the largest number of Cham people living with about 88,600 people, accounting for 12.09% of the province's population, mainly following the religions of Brahmanism, Islam (Bani and Islam) and a few following Protestantism, Catholicism and Baha'i.
Currently, in the province, there are 3 religious organizations of the Cham people: the Council of Cham Brahmin Clergy of Ninh Thuan province, the Council of Bani Muslim Clergy of Ninh Thuan province and the Muslim Community (Islam) of Ninh Thuan province. The dignitaries and leaders of these 3 religious organizations have made many positive contributions in guiding followers to practice religion in accordance with the policies and laws of the Party and the State.
Expressing their joy and honor to visit the capital Hanoi, the delegates, who are dignitaries and officials, expressed their gratitude for the warm welcome of the leaders of the Committee for Ethnic Minorities, and shared about some situations and results of religious activities in the lives of the Cham people at the grassroots level.
Delegates said that the typical dignitaries, officials, and followers are prestigious and virtuous people in the community who always set good examples in implementing the policies and laws of the Party and State in the locality and propagating and mobilizing people to unite, help each other in life as well as in production, help each other to eliminate hunger and reduce poverty; jointly manage and educate children in the community; participate in contributing to the construction of intra-village and intra-field roads, maintain environmental sanitation, participate in the program of coordinating to promote the role of religions in environmental protection and response to climate change; implement traffic safety, do not violate security and order... actively work with the authorities to maintain security and order in the locality, build the Great National Unity bloc.
Along with the results achieved in implementing ethnic policies in Ninh Thuan province, delegates, dignitaries and officials proposed to the Committee for Ethnic Minorities to continue to have policies paying attention to education issues, support to solve employment issues for children of Cham ethnic people; pay more attention to health insurance policies...
Speaking at the reception, Deputy Minister and Vice Chairman Nong Quoc Tuan happily acknowledged the positive contributions of religious organizations and individuals in the Cham ethnic minority area of Ninh Thuan province; highly appreciated the responsibility and contributions of Cham dignitaries and officials in implementing policies, building great national unity, contributing to local authorities in economic development, preserving and promoting cultural and religious values.
Regarding recommendations and proposals, Deputy Minister and Vice Chairman Nong Quoc Tuan also requested that the provincial agencies and departments pay attention and make adjustments related to health insurance. In the field of education, along with the attention of the Party and the State, it is hoped that dignitaries, officials, and prestigious people will actively encourage their children to participate in studying, depending on the conditions of each family to orient suitable careers, participate in work, labor, and production in a variety of industries.
The Deputy Minister and Vice Chairman affirmed that the Party and State always pay great attention to ethnic minorities as well as religions through practical programs and policies, including the National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development for Ethnic Minorities and Minorities that is being implemented.
On the occasion of the beginning of the New Year 2024, Deputy Minister and Vice Chairman Nong Quoc Tuan wished the delegates good health, always doing well the tasks assigned by the people, followers, and religious orders; living a good life, accompanying the development of the ethnic communities in the area.
