
"Up to this point, the organization of the 2024 High School Graduation Exam has taken place safely and seriously."
This was confirmed by Deputy Minister of Education and Training Pham Ngoc Thuong, Head of the national steering committee of the exam, at a press conference this afternoon, June 28, after the end of the last subject of this exam.
Differentiating exam questions, number of candidates violating regulations decreased
Reporting on the organization of the exam at the press conference, Mr. Huynh Van Chuong, Director of the Department of Quality Management, Ministry of Education and Training, Deputy Head of the National Examination Steering Committee, said that the exam took place in quite favorable weather conditions across the country.
Preparations for the exam were carried out proactively, urgently, thoroughly, thoughtfully, and comprehensively. The organization of the exam at all exam locations ensured safety, seriousness, and compliance with the plan, meeting the requirements for a compact and practical exam. The exam was organized seriously, honestly, objectively, safely, and in accordance with regulations, ensuring convenience and fairness for all candidates.
The exam questions are safe and secure from the central to local levels. The exam questions basically meet the requirements for organizing the exam. According to the initial assessment of candidates, teachers and public opinion, the exam questions/subjects are in the high school program, with appropriate differentiation to ensure accurate and objective exam results used to consider graduation recognition and provide data for universities and vocational education institutions to use for enrollment in the spirit of autonomy.
The Steering Committees at all levels have strengthened the inspection and examination of the organization of examinations at examination sites, promptly detected, reminded and supported the overcoming of limitations and shortcomings in the process of organizing examinations to strengthen examination discipline and strictly maintain examination room discipline.

Some shortcomings in the performance of duties by examination officers were promptly remedied. Violations of exam regulations by candidates were promptly detected and handled in accordance with the regulations of the exam, ensuring the seriousness of the exam. Specifically, 30 candidates violated the regulations and were suspended from the exam, a decrease of 11 cases compared to 2023, although the total number of candidates taking the exam increased compared to last year. Up to this point, no candidates have been found to have used high-tech cheating.
Ensure timely marking of exams
Speaking at the press conference, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Pham Ngoc Thuong said that the first and most complicated phase of the exam has just ended. The next phase is marking the exam, which is also very "heavy", must be ensured according to the plan, progress and must continue to monitor, ensure the security, safety and seriousness of the exam.
Providing more specific information about the tasks in the coming time, Mr. Huynh Van Chuong said that the Ministry of Education and Training will continue to direct, guide and strengthen inspection, examination and supervision to ensure good implementation of the stages of marking exams, comparing exam score data, announcing exam results, reviewing exam papers, considering graduation recognition for candidates and university and college admissions for Preschool Education in 2024.
The inspection teams of the National Examination Steering Committee and 63 examination marking inspection teams of the Ministry of Education and Training will inspect the marking work at 63 examination councils during this activity to enhance the seriousness of the marking work.
Provinces and centrally-run cities strictly and seriously implement the process of marking essay exams, multiple-choice exams and reviewing exams to ensure compliance with the regulations and instructions of the Ministry, with cameras monitoring the exam rooms 24/7.
Localities also need to strengthen the information technology infrastructure so that the announcement of exam results is smooth, without network congestion, and be ready to support candidates in changing their university and college admission wishes after the exam results are available. The consideration of graduation recognition for candidates must comply with regulations, focusing on carefully reviewing exam registration data and considering recognition of high school graduation.
