Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Danh Huy led a delegation of the Ministry of Transport to attend the 51st Session of the Ministerial Conference of the Organization for Railway Cooperation (OSJD) in Warsaw, Poland last week.

The Conference was attended by representatives of 22/28 OSJD member countries. Mr. Miroslaw Antonowicz, Chairman of the OSJD Committee chaired the conference.
The Ministerial Conference noted the implementation of the OSJD Program and Work Plan for 2023 and approved the 2023 Activity Report; oriented activities for 2024, work program for 2025 and the following years in the fields of transport policy, development strategy, transport law, vocational education.
At the same time, the conference discussed the headquarters of the OSJD Committee, the allocation of positions, the appointment of Committee members and other related issues.
The resolutions adopted at the 51st Session of the Ministerial Conference are aimed at implementing the tasks set for the OSJD Organization, further developing rail transport in all member countries, improving the efficiency and competitiveness of the sector, as well as strengthening cooperation and mutual trust.
During his time in Poland, Deputy Minister Nguyen Danh Huy worked with Mr. Miroslaw Antonowicz, Chairman of the OSJD Committee, to promote Vietnam's participation in the OSJD Organization.
At the meeting, the Deputy Minister informed about the Vietnamese Government's priority in developing national and international railway transport in the context that Vietnam is moving towards environmentally friendly transport methods, in order to fulfill its commitment to achieve zero net emissions by 2050.

The Deputy Minister affirmed Vietnam's commitment to continue to closely cooperate with the OSJD Committee and other members of the OSJD, especially members on the No. 2 railway corridor.
Thereby, maintaining and developing international railway transport, enhancing railway transport connections, contributing to promoting economic cooperation and exchange among members of the OSJD Organization.
Also during the working trip, the Ministry of Transport delegation surveyed Poland's high-speed railway connecting the capital Warsaw and the city of Krakow.
The delegation also worked with representatives of the State Railway Corporation (PKP), PKP Intercity Long-distance Passenger Transport Company, PKP PLK Railway Infrastructure Management Company and CPK SP Company.
During the meetings, the two sides exchanged experiences and shared information on the management, exploitation and operation of the national railway network; experience in preparing for investment implementation, selecting technology and standards applicable to high-speed railways in Poland.
At the same time, promote cooperation between the two countries' railways, especially in the field of international freight transport; Conduct exchanges with the Heads of Delegations from China and Kazakhstan to promote international railway transport on Corridor No. 2.
Since joining the OSJD in 1957, Vietnam has actively participated in OSJD activities, attended Ministerial Conferences, Director General Conferences and sent Vietnam's representative to the Committee.
As an official member of the OSJD Organization, Vietnam has participated in the following Agreements: Agreement on International Passenger Transport (SMPS), Agreement on International Railway Goods Transport (SMGS), Agreement on International Passenger Tariffs (MPT), Agreement on Uniform Transit Tariffs (ETT), Agreement on Payment Rules in International Railway Passenger and Goods Transport.
These agreements create an important legal basis for international railway transport from Vietnam through China to Central and Eastern European countries.
