Both countries will never forget the international communist soldiers, the outstanding sons of Vietnam who fell while defending Moscow from Nazi Germany in the fierce winter days of 1941, and will always remember the wholehearted support and assistance that the Soviet people gave to Vietnam in the struggle for independence and national reunification, and to protect the Fatherland.
The exploits, achievements and sacrifices of Russian veterans have left deep feelings and special respect in the hearts of the Vietnamese people. The Party, State, people and the Vietnam People's Army are always grateful for that sincere, wholehearted, great and effective help. Over the past years, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam have carried out many practical activities to express gratitude to Russian veterans.
Moved when meeting the delegation of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense in Moscow, Mr. Nikolai Nikolaevich Kolesnik - a Russian veteran who worked in Vietnam in 1965-1966 shared that the time he fought side by side with Vietnamese soldiers in the resistance war for national liberation is still intact, memories that will never fade.
Talking about one of the battles they participated in during their time in Vietnam, the veterans could not help but be moved, proud and happy to have contributed a small part to the struggle for national liberation in Vietnam. Loving the country and people of Vietnam, the Russian veterans hope that the friendly and cooperative relationship between the Russian Federation and Vietnam will last forever.

This is both a memory and a valuable experience that needs to be preserved, to remind future generations of the 7-decade relationship between Vietnam and Russia.
Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien respectfully invited Russian veterans to Vietnam to attend the 80th Anniversary of the Vietnam People's Army, the 35th Anniversary of National Defense Day and to visit Vietnam, where Russian veterans experienced arduous, heroic and proud years.
