Hoa Tien Commune, Vi Thanh City (Hau Giang) has long been known as the capital of Cau Duc pineapple with superior quality compared to other regions in the West.
In addition, Cau Duc pineapple is grown in many communes of Vi Thanh city and Long My district (Hau Giang), creating large, continuous pineapple fields.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Hau Giang, the province's current pineapple area is about 3,000 hectares, concentrated in Vi Thanh city and Long My district.
In Vi Thanh alone, the pineapple growing area has reached 2,800 hectares, the highest in the whole province. This city has established 3 cooperatives to grow, trade and process pineapple products.
The price of pineapple is currently decreasing quite sharply compared to a few months ago. However, Hau Giang people still maintain production and harvest regularly to supply this fruit to the market. Grade 1 pineapple costs about 7,000 VND/fruit, after deducting costs, each hectare will earn a profit of about 60 million VND.
The unique features of Cau Duc pineapple are short stem, small core, bulging eyes, slightly deep eye sockets, and a characteristic sweet aroma. Average weight from 1.5 - 2kg/fruit.
Pineapple is one of the key agricultural products in the agricultural development program of Hau Giang province in the period of 2021 - 2025. By 2025, the province strives to achieve a planting area of 3,500 hectares, with an output of 45,000 tons/year. This fruit is now not only sold fresh but also the main ingredient for local people to produce delicious cakes, jams, candies... that are loved by users.

Cau Duc pineapple in Hau Giang has been recognized as a trademark by the Intellectual Property Office. The province has also invested in seed sources and provided capital support for people to build planting models according to food safety and hygiene processes, and produce according to VietGAP standards.
