Pham Thi Van Anh - Student of Nguyen Binh Khiem High School (Hai Phong) - is the national valedictorian of block D01 this year with 28.9 points. Her scores for this block are: Math 9.6; Literature 9.5 and English 9.8.
Before deciding to pursue Foreign Economics at Foreign Trade University, Van Anh applied for early admission to Mathematics Education at Hanoi National University of Education.
After submitting her application, the female student re-read the admission criteria of the Pedagogical College and discovered that her application did not meet the requirements because it lacked the conditions for national excellent students. "But if it is said that I failed this major as some fanpages posted, it is not true, because if I really loved it, I would have submitted my application and based on my graduation exam score, I would still have enough points to pass, " Van Anh said.

This year, the Mathematics Education Department of Hanoi National University of Education took 26.50 points from block A00 (Math - Physics - Chemistry) and A01 (Math - Physics - English). Accordingly, Van Anh achieved 26.85 points from block A00 (0.35 points extra) and 28.90 points from block A01 (2.4 points extra).
The reason the female valedictorian of block D01 "selects" Foreign Economics is because she sees that this is a major with a lot of potential and an attractive income after graduation. The Hai Phong female student chooses her major before choosing a school because determining which major is more suitable for her passion and strengths.
This girl believes that initiative and a desire to learn are fundamental factors that help students acquire knowledge, skills and opportunities. At the same time, in a school with many talented people, you must constantly strive to stand out. However, each person also needs to have their own goals, personal identity and look at things in an optimistic way.
Regarding the secret to getting high scores, according to Van Anh, during the "final stages", students should not push themselves too hard, which can easily lead to stress and ineffective review. The female student also emphasized the importance of "mental resistance" and balancing review time between subjects. Accordingly, only when the mind is comfortable can knowledge be easily absorbed. At the same time, all subjects are equally important, no subject should be emphasized or underestimated.
"I learned this lesson after a stressful time due to disappointment with my grades. When I was in a bad mood, no matter how hard I tried to study, I couldn't remember anything. Then I sat down, looked at what I was missing, and then redistributed my time, " the Hai Phong student added.
Van Anh usually studies until around 10pm, and on days with a lot of lessons, until 11pm. She doesn't stay up too late and always knows how to arrange her total study time to be just enough to ensure her health. The female student focuses on mastering the methods to solve different types of questions, and at the same time, practices her test-taking speed based on the time in the exam room.
The valedictorian said she will balance her time and choose a learning method suitable for the university environment to be able to achieve her goals. At the same time, the female student hopes to become a more active, proactive and creative student.
Currently, Van Anh has found a suitable room for herself, preparing to start her student life away from home. Van Anh is proud that her family is always the motivation to try to overcome the initial challenges and gain valuable experiences in the upcoming 4 years of university.
"In the immediate future, I will try to practice and study well at university. If I have the opportunity, I will work part-time to have monthly expenses and accumulate practical experience," the valedictorian added.
