Nguyen Minh Anh - a student at Tran Quang Khai Secondary School, Tan Phu District, Ho Chi Minh City, with a total score of 28.75 points in three subjects - became the valedictorian of grade 10 in the 2024-2025 school year in Ho Chi Minh City.
Won many awards in natural sciences
Minh Anh's three subject scores are: math 10, English 10, literature: 8.75.
Minh Anh was born in 2009. In the eyes of friends and teachers, since childhood, she has been a "super" student in natural sciences.
During primary school, Minh Anh was a student at Tan Son Nhi Primary School, Tan Phu District, Ho Chi Minh City.
At secondary school, Minh Anh continued to be an excellent student in natural sciences: math and biology.
In grade 7, Minh Anh won the city-level Math Olympiad. In grade 9, Minh Anh won third prize in the city-level Biology Olympiad.
"I like studying natural sciences, especially math, and have a bit of a talent for drawing. I probably have my father's 'genes' for math," Minh Anh shared.
Ms. Que Tran - Nguyen Minh Anh's homeroom teacher - commented: "From grade 6 until now, Minh Anh has been an excellent student. She is flexible, adaptable in learning and works very well in groups. She is a very diligent and hardworking person in studying and responding to school and class movements. In life, she also knows how to respect her elders, loves her teachers and her friends."
Self-study, research, flexible in learning
In this year's 10th grade entrance exam, Nguyen Minh Anh placed her first choice at Nguyen Thuong Hien High School, Tan Binh District, Ho Chi Minh City. "My childhood dream was to become a doctor. I want to cure diseases and help others," Minh Anh said.
To achieve that dream, Minh Anh knows how to plan and arrange her studies, but she does not "study a lot, study cramming". Every day, even when preparing for the 10th grade entrance exam, Minh Anh goes to bed at 10pm.
"In primary school, my child slept at 8:30 every night. When he was older, he slept later, but never after 10:00. He also didn't look at his phone. Even though he was in 9th grade, Minh Anh's parents didn't buy him a phone like many other students," said Le Kim Lien, Minh Anh's mother.
However, Minh Anh has a very good learning method. "I listen to the teachers in class, then at home I will do it the way the teachers do it and research my own solutions to compare with those solutions to see if they give the same results. I find that self-study helps me discover a lot of things," Minh Anh said, adding that she accumulates her learning every day so as not to be overwhelmed on the last days.
For this year's math test, Minh Anh got a perfect score of 10/10. Before the department announced the scores, Minh Anh predicted that she would get 28.75 points and was not surprised by this score. But she was very happy to be the valedictorian of this year's exam.
"I am not surprised but really happy with this result. I thank my parents for always being there to guide, support and take care of me. I thank my teachers for helping me discover that learning is interesting, giving me useful advice in studying and in life", Minh Anh sent her thanks to her teachers and parents.
Valedictorian is loved by teachers and friends
Minh Anh is an outstanding student at school and she is also a good student, participates in many activities, is loved by teachers and friends. Last school year, she won 3rd prize in biology at the city level.
In studying and training, I am a good example spreading positive things to other students at school and am very obedient and polite to teachers and adults.
