Sustainable Trends

Comrade Nguyen Trung Kien, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, said: Tuyen Quang is a locality that develops industry later than other provinces and cities in the country, but always aims to attract high-tech, environmentally friendly projects. In particular, with the advantage of developing agriculture and forestry, the provincial advisory department attracts and invites enterprises to process agricultural and forestry products, use renewable materials, assemble high-tech products, modern equipment; organic agricultural projects, medicinal processing... This is a sustainable trend, in the context of the Government's efforts to reduce net emissions to zero.

The Erex Sakura Tuyen Quang Biomass Fuel Plant Project is invested and built on an area of 3.3 hectares in Long Binh An Industrial Park. The plant has a designed capacity to produce 150,000 tons of biomass pellets/year, 150,000 tons of wood chips/year, with a total investment of more than 478.8 billion VND (equivalent to more than 20.4 million USD). The plant is expected to operate in 2025. The plant's high-quality wood pellets are widely used in many fields such as fuel for thermal power plants, fuel for fireplaces, industrial incineration equipment, steam systems, drying livestock food, etc.

The province prioritizes attracting agricultural and forestry processing projects during this period (In photo: Wood processing for export at Tra Phu Tan Company Limited, Phu Lam Ward (Tuyen Quang City).

This enterprise is also planning to expand its investment into the biomass electricity sector, with the goal of utilizing by-products in agricultural and forestry processing to produce biomass electricity. When put into operation, this project will lead the green production trend, applying the circular economic model so that the product meets the greening requirements of the market and customers.

According to data from the Department of Planning and Investment, implementing the Investment Attraction Project in Tuyen Quang province for the period of 2021-2025, the province has attracted the attention of many potential investors to invest in business projects in the province such as: VinGroup; Danko Group; Flamigo Group,... The Provincial People's Committee has approved the investment policy of 75 projects with a total registered investment of over 31,000 billion VND, equal to 62.3% compared to the target of the Provincial Investment Attraction Project for the period of 2021-2025; has approved the investment policy of 42 industrial production projects, with a total investment of over 6,269 billion VND; including many projects with large total investment, expected to have great production value and contribution to the state budget such as: Erex Sakura Tuyen Quang Biomass Fuel Factory Project, with a total investment of over 478 billion VND; Wood production factory project in Yen Son district, total investment of over 408 billion VND; Ninh Lai - Thien Ke industrial cluster, Son Duong district, total investment of over 965 billion VND... In the first 5 months of 2024 alone, the province approved 20 investment policy adjustment dossiers; decided to approve 1 investor dossier; approved investment policy and simultaneously approved investors for 2 projects with capital of over 82.7 billion VND, granted investment certificates for 1 project with capital of over 162 billion VND. Thus, in the past 5 months, 6 projects have been completed and put into operation, bringing the total number of completed projects put into production and business operation in the province to 284 projects, accounting for 72.2% of the total number of projects, with a total investment of over 26,800 billion VND.

Effective support for technological innovation

Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade Nguyen Trung Kien said that Tuyen Quang is in the process of calling for investors. During this period, the province aims to attract clean technology, high technology projects, low labor usage and minimize outdated technology projects that have an impact on the environment. In the draft on restructuring the industry and trade sector, the sector also aims to maintain stability for footwear and garment projects while focusing on improving the value and quality of products. For industrial projects, especially the forest product processing industry, the industry and trade sector encourages forest product processing enterprises to use wood from planted forests that have been granted FSC sustainable forest certification. Currently, many large enterprises in this field have prioritized choosing this material such as Woodsland, An Hoa... At the same time, for small and micro enterprises, the department supports technology and production line conversion through capital from the Central Industrial Promotion Fund and local Industrial Promotion Fund.

Phu Tan Tea Company Limited, Phu Lam Ward (Tuyen Quang City) has just received support from the Industrial Promotion Fund to convert production line technology. Mr. Nguyen Huu Chi, Director of the Company, said that new technology has helped the company increase production value, on average the company exports 600-800 m3 of plywood per month. According to Mr. Chi, support for technological innovation helps businesses easily access more demanding markets, and product quality and value are higher.

The story of not trading the environment for growth in many localities is a lesson for Tuyen Quang to "filter" new projects, ensuring green growth and sustainable growth. With that determination, the province is striving to complete the development goal on a green, ecological, and environmentally friendly foundation, becoming a destination for green businesses.
