Sustainable trends
Comrade Nguyen Trung Kien, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, said: Tuyen Quang is a locality that developed its industry later than other provinces and cities in the country, but it always aims to attract high-tech and environmentally friendly projects. In particular, with its advantages in agricultural and forestry development, the department advises the province to attract and invite businesses processing agricultural and forestry products, using renewable materials, assembling high-tech goods and modern equipment; organic farming projects, medicinal herb processing... This is a sustainable trend, in the context of the Government's efforts to reduce net emissions to zero.
The Erex Sakura Tuyen Quang Biomass Fuel Plant project is being built on an area of 3.3 hectares in the Long Binh An Industrial Park. The plant has a designed production capacity of 150,000 tons of biomass pellets and 150,000 tons of wood chips per year, with a total investment of over VND 478.8 billion (equivalent to over USD 20.4 million). The plant is expected to be operational in 2025. The plant's high-quality wood pellets are widely used in many fields, such as fuel for thermal power plants, heating systems, industrial incineration equipment, steam systems, and animal feed drying.

Projects in the processing of agricultural and forestry products are prioritized for attraction by the province during this period (In the photo: Wood processing for export at Phu Tan Tea Company Limited, Phu Lam ward ( Tuyen Quang city).
This company is also currently planning to expand its investment into the biomass power sector, aiming to utilize by-products from agricultural and forestry processing to produce biomass electricity. Once operational, this project will lead the trend in green production, applying a circular economy model to ensure its products meet the greening requirements of the market and customers.
According to data from the Department of Planning and Investment, implementing the Investment Attraction Project in Tuyen Quang province for the period 2021-2025, the province has attracted the attention of many potential investors to invest in business projects in the province such as: VinGroup; Danko Group; Flamigo Group,... The Provincial People's Committee has approved the investment policy for 75 projects with a total registered investment of over 31,000 billion VND, equivalent to 62.3% of the target of the provincial investment attraction project for the period 2021-2025; and has approved the investment policy for 42 industrial production projects, with a total investment of over 6,269 billion VND; including many projects with large total investment, expected to have significant production value and contributions to the state budget such as: the Erex Sakura Tuyen Quang Biomass Fuel Plant Project, with a total investment of over 478 billion VND; The Yen Son District Wood Processing Plant project has a total investment of over 408 billion VND; the Ninh Lai - Thien Ke Industrial Cluster in Son Duong District has a total investment of over 965 billion VND... In the first five months of 2024 alone, the province approved 20 investment policy adjustment dossiers; approved one investor; approved the investment policy and simultaneously approved the investor for two projects with a capital of over 82.7 billion VND; and issued investment certificates for one project with a capital of over 162 billion VND. Thus, in the past five months, six projects have been completed and put into operation, bringing the total number of completed projects in operation in the province to 284, accounting for 72.2% of the total number of projects, with a total investment of over 26,800 billion VND.
Effectively support technological innovation.
According to Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade Nguyen Trung Kien, Tuyen Quang is currently in the process of attracting investors. During this phase, the province prioritizes attracting clean technology and high-tech projects that require minimal labor, while minimizing projects with outdated technology and environmental impacts. In the draft restructuring plan for the industry and trade sector, the province aims to maintain stability for projects in the footwear and garment industries, focusing on enhancing product value and quality. For industrial projects, especially in the timber processing industry, the Department of Industry and Trade encourages timber processing enterprises to use wood from sustainably managed plantations certified by the FSC (Forestry Science and Technology Committee). Currently, many large enterprises in this sector, such as Woodsland and An Hoa, have prioritized this material. Simultaneously, for small and micro-enterprises, the department supports technology and production line conversion through funding from the central and local industrial promotion funds.
Phu Tan Tea Company Limited, located in Phu Lam ward (Tuyen Quang city), recently received support from the Industrial Promotion Fund to upgrade its production line technology. Mr. Nguyen Huu Chi, the company's director, stated that the new technology has helped the business increase production value, with an average monthly export volume of 600-800 cubic meters of plywood. According to Mr. Chi, this technological upgrade support allows the company to more easily access demanding markets, resulting in higher product quality and value.
The story of not sacrificing the environment for growth in many localities serves as a lesson for Tuyen Quang to "filter" new projects, ensuring green and sustainable growth. With this determination, the province is striving to achieve its development goals on a green, ecological, and environmentally friendly foundation, becoming a destination for green businesses.
