In recent days, when the water level on La Nga River and irrigation canals has dropped, the water in the rice fields has receded, the weather has also reduced rain and become sunny, farmers in Tanh Linh district have taken advantage of the opportunity to go to the fields to harvest the early-sown summer-autumn rice fields that have ripened and the fields that were damaged by rain and floods at the end of July.
In the fields of Lac Tanh town today, households with ripe rice have hired harvesters to harvest. Mr. Tran Van Bay, Lac Hoa 1 ward, is watching the harvester threshing on his family's 3 sao of summer-autumn rice and said: This crop has less damage from rats, and fewer pests than in previous years, and the rice plants are growing quite well. If there had not been a flood at the end of July, each sao would have yielded about 600 kg of fresh rice. However, due to flooding and some areas falling, the yield is only about 300 - 400 kg/sao. Pointing to the neighboring rice fields, Mr. Bay said that for these fallen rice fields lying close to the ground, and while they were still in the process of forming a dream, the harvester could not harvest them, and it was considered a total loss. So I suffered less damage than other households - Mr. Bay said.
In the fields of Duc Phu, Gia An, and Bac Ruong communes, we recorded many harvesters harvesting early summer-autumn rice. Farmers here said: The fields that were not knocked down had a yield of 5.5 - 6 quintals/sao. The fields that were flooded or knocked down had a yield of only 1 - 2 quintals/sao. The current selling price ranges from 6,000 - 6,500 VND/kg. Although the price is high, the yield is low, so the profit is insignificant.
The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Tanh Linh district said: This summer-autumn crop, farmers in the district produced 9,086/8,225 hectares, reaching 110.47% of the plan. Of which, about 2,000 hectares were sown early and are currently being harvested. In recent days, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of the province, district and communes and towns have inspected the field to specifically assess the extent of damage. On that basis, there is a document advising superiors to consider providing support and helping people affected by the damage to have conditions to reproduce the upcoming crop.
