The Border Guard Station of Cau Treo International Border Gate (Huong Son, Ha Tinh) has just discovered and seized 1,306 documents and items with illegal propaganda content about the "Dieu Am Dharma Door".

Confiscated many illegal documents

In April 2023, the Cau Treo International Border Gate Border Guard Station, together with the Provincial Border Guard Reconnaissance Department and the Provincial Police, inspected 10 passenger cars entering Vietnam from Laos through the Cau Treo International Border Gate.

Through checking the luggage and persons of 492 passengers, the authorities discovered and seized 1,306 documents and items of various types such as USBs, books, notebooks, etc. with illegal propaganda content for the "Dieu Am Dharma"; checking the computer of 1 passenger, they discovered a list of 141 people participating in the organization "Dieu Am Dharma".

Next, through checking the passenger bus with license plate 29B - 043.57 entering Vietnam from Laos, the authorities continued to discover 5 passengers carrying 4 books, 10 notebooks and 7 USBs containing propaganda content of "Dharma of Wonderful Sound". Through investigation, the bus owner and passengers confessed that the group of nearly 500 people from the northern provinces went to Thailand to participate in a meditation course of "Dharma of Wonderful Sound". After participating in the course, these people bought documents to listen to and practice in their home country.

These are two cases of illegal document transportation that have been promptly prevented by the authorities in the past. Captain Bui Song Anh - Deputy Head of the Cau Treo International Border Guard Station said: "The authorities have checked the luggage and asked the vehicle owner to commit not to allow passengers to bring illegal heretical propaganda documents into Vietnam. We also propagate and mobilize people not to believe in heretical religions that are not recognized by Vietnamese law and are operating illegally so that people can be vigilant."

According to Captain Bui Song Anh, at this time, on average, there are about 1,000 people and 200-250 vehicles entering and exiting the country through Cau Treo International Border Gate every day. To ensure security, the unit has increased patrols, strictly controlled people and vehicles passing through the border gate; proactively grasped the situation, resolutely fought and prevented all types of crimes.

Preventing crimes of illegal border crossing and drug trafficking

Not only in the Cau Treo International Border Gate area, since the beginning of the year, the situation of border crossing crimes through trails, openings, and forest cutting on the border line has remained complicated. In particular, the situation of illegal entry and exit involving foreign elements has increased.

For example, on March 5, at the Cau Treo International Border Gate, authorities arrested two foreigners while they were illegally crossing the border into Laos through the forest.

Expanding the investigation, the authorities arrested Nguyen Canh (from Xuan Loc commune, Can Loc) - the person who agreed to take these two subjects from Can Loc district to the border area of Cau Treo International Border Gate to receive 10 million VND as a reward.

Major Nguyen Khac Hao - Deputy Head of Cau Treo International Border Guard Station informed: "Since the beginning of the year, the unit has prosecuted 3 cases/11 subjects of illegal entry and exit. On the front of fighting smuggling, counterfeit goods, banned goods, drug trafficking, the border guard force has also resolutely fought against all types of crimes, maintaining security and order on the border."

From the beginning of 2023 to present, the Cau Treo International Border Guard Station has presided over and coordinated with other forces to arrest and handle 46 cases/51 law violators; seized evidence includes 2 kg of crystal meth, 2 kg of ketamine, 4 heroin cakes and 1,240 synthetic drug pills, 155.5 kg of fireworks...

“Along with ensuring smooth, convenient and proper immigration procedures, the Cau Treo International Border Guard Station will continue to deploy forces to strengthen patrols and strictly control the wing areas and trails along the border; resolutely prevent heretical propaganda activities, illegal immigration and emigration, and raise people's vigilance. This June, the unit will implement a plan for a peak month of drug prevention and control,” Major Nguyen Khac Hao emphasized.
