Specifically, at around 9:00 p.m. on July 4, while taking her child home in Village 6, Kien Bai Commune, Thuy Nguyen District, Hai Phong City, nurse Thao saw a man carrying a newborn baby who had stopped breathing and turned purple… into a taxi. Behind him was a woman running after him, crying bitterly.
Immediately, Ms. Thao left her child behind, ran after the taxi and introduced herself as a medical worker. She then got in the car, took the child from the man's arms and quickly performed first aid, chest compressions, mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, and direct suctioning of the nose and mouth.
Nurse Nguyen Thi Thao quickly gave first aid to the baby by performing chest compressions, mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, and direct nasal suction. |
The incident was recorded by a camera in a taxi. In the clip, nurse Thao performed first aid while continuously saying: “ Come on, come on, come on… hit the child’s leg hard so that he can have a reflex to cry .” After the first aid efforts, the child was able to breathe again.
Ms. Thao was in the car with the patient's family, continuously providing emergency support on the way to Thuy Nguyen District General Hospital. After receiving first aid at Thuy Nguyen General Hospital, the child was transferred to Hai Phong Children's Hospital for further treatment. Currently, the child is out of danger and in stable health.
The leaders of Hai Phong Children's Hospital said that nurse Thao has worked at the hospital for a long time, having worked in the Neonatal Department for many years, and has mastered the emergency resuscitation of respiratory and circulatory arrest, as if by reflex. Nurse Thao's actions are humane, demonstrating the sense of responsibility of nurses as well as medical staff and doctors.
